Assassin's Creed: Odyssey - Alexios Gamescom trailer

Ubisoft has given us another look at their new take on the Assassin's Creed formula. This Greek epic will see the series introduce a multitude of gameplay elements, like having boss fights with the Minotaur and Medusa, and offering multiple game endings and varied dialogue choices, as well as refining series staples like naval battles and open world exploration. Assassin's Creed: Odyssey will be available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One this October 5th.

Seriously? Minotaur and medusa? Rememeber the good old days when it at least tried to be realistic? This isn't assassin's creed anymore.

Given how badly they fucked up the last game, this actually looks pretty cool.
It's a neat setting.
People seem to note that it's not looking as assassiny as other games, but probably the most beloved games in the series are AC2. Ezio is one of the worst assassins in the series. 9/10 his tactics were "rush in and kill a bunch of dudes, then run out the front door". So it's not a huge departure if your character in Odyssey is along the same lines.

Lets just hope they don't repeat the mistakes Origins did. It's probably best if everyone just forgets that game ever existed.

Also for the love of god ditch the modern day bullshit. Just stahp. No one has EVER liked any of those garbage sections. I don't understand why they still get put in.

To be fair, that was Connor and Jacob and Arno, too. The only ones who even seemed to have a pretense of stealth and subtlety was Kenway (sometimes) and Altair Ibn La-no-personality. Honestly, even if it's blatantly disregarding the name, I think the AC series had some of its best moments when it was the opposite of an assassin stealth game.

The modern day story stopped being relevant in 2. At least you could still almost argue that they were trying back then. And even then, the ending of the 2/BH/R modern storyline went from poor to trash.

Wasn't Jacob complimented by an overly stealthy companion? Arno arguably could be pretty stealthy, though he certainly didn't start out as such. I skipped Connor's game. Best Assassin Edward wasn't all that assassiny though, given he was a pirate and rejected being an assassin for most of the game.

But really the only game where I felt stealth was almost entirely overlooked was 2. Hell stealth wasn't even an option in a lot of cases.

I enjoyed basically just speed-murdering dudes as Edward, but it's pretty satisfying when the game does stealth properly and you can pull it off well.

Odyssey i'd have to imagine will lean more towards an AC2 experience, which isn't a bad thing. Might actually be good for the series. But again after Origins, god damn near anything would be an improvement.

Evie played as stealth, Jacob was run in and smash everyone's faces in.

Knowing Ubisoft, we'll just get more modern day story focus rather than competent gameplay.

In all honesty, though, I do like this RPG esque style they're shooting for.

But did you notice the minotour is just a big bull with big horns and the medusa its just a plain guy covered with snakes

They take the legend behind the name
In that time you only could believe what people say to you

I would have personally prefered the Greek Assassin Creed game be based in the decline and last years of the Byzantine Empire. Being surrounded by Muslims and the Ottoman Empire. Trying to defend Constantinople, would be pretty fun. Sure, we would know the ending, but it would be pretty cool, and you don't get many Greek themed games based in that scenario.

From what I heard (I never played it myself) the last game was pretty good. Where do you think it fell short?

I liked Ezio, out of all the AC games I played he had the best personality.

Yes, the modern day segments fucking suck. It's a good thing most of them were optional in Black Flag (the last AC game I played).

Same here my favourite is Ezio, Assassins Creed 2 is also my favourite, I really liked the high level of architecture from the game locations, I also really like Venice...

I hate the US based Assassins Creed with the booring flat same repeating houses everywhere even though the ships was a very wonderful addition to the game, but it stop being an Assassins Creed, when it stop being about real Templars and all that high strange level of history.

But I liked a lot a few parts from the modern world where it actually shown the "god" things that where hidden\lost without much spoilers...

ps: but the last AC on the Egypt is also pretty good, they changed a bit the controllers and many other things (They made it so immersive that sometimes you really feel like you are visiting the Egypt in all its glory, they gave a huge quality to details on almost everything, its history at its best), I didn't like much AC III and IV story and locations...

EDIT: Forgot to say this new AC Odyssey is not my taste again... I prefer the Egypt :)

Age of Assassins Creed: Wololo Edition.

I couldn't keep up with Assassin's Creed after 3, what with the turn the franchise took and them focusing mainly on newer points of history, but both this and Origins have my curiosity.
