Just update the software and after that enjoy the game
Is it a software update (for Sonic) or a firmware update it's asking for?On the latest software and install Sonic Mania thru SXOS menu. I . The game say it need a software update but I could just start and play it. Now I got update.nsp and install it but when I click on the game it says software update require and wont give me any other options but to Cancel or Download. I am on latest software.

Because the firmware update popup is a known issue. To remove that, boot into maintenance mode (holding VOL PLUS and MINUS while booting Horizon), wait until you're in maintenance mode and turn off the Switch completely.
Think hes talking about the launch game gives you 3 options start update close screen
If you updated it correct with the updates the nsp then just ignore it your
version number of game should of changed if it worked.
Well that makes it extra weird then.
It is not mandatory, just start the software. thats what i do on 5.1.0.
Did u install the update via sx os?Check the second image that. I cant start the game after the update.nsp

That is not a "System Software Update" that is a "Game Update" and even though you installed an update for sonic, it just means it either didn't install correctly or its an outdated update either way. If you're trying to avoid going online, I would try to remove the update. I believe you can do this but pressing '+' while hovering over the game and there should be an option that says "Delete Data" or something along those lines.
it's a game update for sure. I already told you I had the same issue. the nsp update you got it's not good. Find the xci version of the game. You sure because it's says "software update"
