thank you. it's quite overwhelming though so i'll pass. So effectively, what's the reason for not updating?
On 4.1.0 we'll maybe get a software solution, so we don't need a hardmode anymore. Also warmboot could be possible but there's not much known about it yet.
When using SX OS: can I actually rename the XCI files or do they have to stay as they are ("bbb-ahhek4k-...") in order for the system to read/find them? thanks :)
The name doesn't matter.

and by software solution, you mean we won't have to use a jig?

What are the chances that 4.1.0 will have this solution? also, what's the "golden firmware" that is most actively worked on in the scene?
We don't know the chances yet, it has only been stated that it's possible. I think it's only a matter of time when we'll get a software solution. The golden firmware is 1.0.0.

LayeredFS supports only 5.x. You would need to update if you want to use it or wait until there's a better solution. You can also update your firmware to the latest version without burning fuses. So you can downgrade later on, if you want to go back to 4.1.0.

i found this: https://gbatemp.net/threads/atmosphere-layeredfs.507653/
:
Someone with a 4.1.0 Switch, who wants to play guinea pig ? ^^
I did port the kernel patch from 5.1.0 to 4.1.0 and made my own patcher.

Only things you need is BCPKG2-1-Normal-Main.bin, BOOT0.bin, TSEC & SBK Key from a nand dump.

Written in pure C#, no hactool.exe needed, comes with source code.
- link removed, get updated version here: https://gbatemp.net/threads/atmosphere-layeredfs.507653/page-2#post-8059831
- copy BCPKG2-1-Normal-Main.bin & BOOT0.bin into "Data" dir
- run KeyDumper.exe
- enter SBK, TSEC and optional SD SEED (you can also edit the Settings.ini)
- the program should generate a keys.txt and decrypt all needed files
- now run KernelPatcher.exe, it will use the decrypted Kernel.bin and generate a kernel-patched.bin

- KeyDumper.exe supports FW 1.0.0-5.1.0
- KernelPatcher.exe currently only supports FW 4.1.0 & FW 5.1.0
- i plan to add more tools to my SwitchToolbox, like sd card decrypter, maybe i should make my own topic for this ?

Does it mean i can use LayeredFS on 4.1.0?

question, if i am on cfw, how i can open the album as album? not as SX OS or homebrew menu.
You need to hold L and open the album.
I sometimes read about that something "burns your fuses"

What does that mean?
When you update your console, small parts in the CPU are burnt. Every time your console boots, the amount of burnt fuses will be compared to the system firmware. If they don't match, you can't use the console. Here you can read more about this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EFUSE

Man upgrading to 5.x sounds very tempting now.

@Arithmatics you were answered wrong by @pLaYeR^^

I am on 4.1.0 and LayeredFS works

Watch this video first
https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=207&v=oiE8Luc0c9E

Read the description as well on what you need... THEN

Follow this post (thread) on how to make LayeredFS work on 4.1.0;
https://gbatemp.net/threads/atmosphere-layeredfs.507653/#post-8059224

once you follow that thread, you will have the patched kernel file... which you need to replace with what you got earlier

I've already told him, but I haven't tried it myself yet. Read the posts above.

So what do we get with 1.0.0? jigless and untethered? anything else? whats the difference between warmboot and coldboot?

EmuNAND and coldboot probably too. If you perform a warmboot, the console is already running and you boot with an exploit into CFW, for example a web exploit. Instead if you perform a coldboot, the console isn't running and boots up right away in CFW at start.

If you have Puyo-Puyo Tetris, you can install Fake News which is warmboot untethered exploit that is permanent. If you don't, there is currently a way to do it using a donor's NAND dump that has it installed but its complicated: https://gbatemp.net/threads/how-to-...em-and-user-from-other-switches.506840/page-5
If you don't want to use either of those methods, there may be a possibility of someone porting Fake News into either a homebrew or payload that will effectively install it but it has not happened yet.

SX Pro can be used to boot the TX's CFW on all consoles, but it can only be used to play backups and homebrew on one Switch at a time.

can I activate my license sx os while waiting for the sx pro? I only have one switch.
You can activate it and then use the SX Pro to load the SX OS rather than activate the SX Pro for your Switch, just in case you or a friend have another Switch that wants to use the SX Pro.
