Hardware Prevent PS3 slim from eventual death?

Recently picked up a used PS3 slim on my area for $20. Took it apart, cleaned out all the dust, bought some Arctic thermal pads and placed them on all the large-medium sized chips I could find on both sides of the motherboard, as well as cleaned up old thermal paste, and applied Arctic silver 5. Installed rebug cfw 4.81.2. temps in multiman are around 65-69 celcius overall when idle, and the ps3 is somewhat quiet.

However, once I load any games (ps2, PS3) the fan ramps up hard. Within 5 minutes of playing, the fan starts picking up audibly, and starts spinning up faster and faster until it's scary loud, and I'm afraid to play any longer and cause overheating. What else can I do to prevent ylod other than new thermal pads + new paste? Is it possible I didn't put enough paste on the cpu/gpu? I did make sure to cover both squares entirely, but maybe In my attempt to not apply too much, I put it on too thin?

Thought I could just pick up a cheap PS3, hack it n get some use out of it. Temps don't go any higher than what I mentioned when navigating menus and basic apps, but once games load up, yikes.

You can use webman to customize the fan speed to reduce the temperature. As long the temperature doesn't hit 80 Celsius I think the system doesn't start panicking. As in thermal paste if you spread them out evenly then that would be alright.

Dude you rock! Im new to the PS3 hacking scene (or late to the party I suppose), so im still trying to get the hang of everything. I didn't even know there were settings in webman! Once I found that, I changed the default fan control settings to "syscon" n so far, games are playing much quieter now!

I don't have a way to check temps in game. I'm stuck with a PS4 controller until I get a hold of a PS3 controller, so as such, no ps button access to bring up xmb menu, so I have to keep manually shutting down the PS3 to switch games, though right now I'm still in the testing everything cfw can do phase. Lol.

Delidding. Yeah, I'm afraid to do that. I don't think I have proper tools to do so, and I dont want to end up breaking the chips. I've found multiple videos on YouTube, but most look like the user almost brute forces there way in.

Anyone know of a easy way to get them off? I don't want to buy a delidding tool that chances are I may end up just using once .

Well try Webman first, if that reduces the temperature it should be fine, good manual fan speed is like 40-45 % but it is a little bit noisy, the higher the speed the shorter the fan life though. On idle I get around 56C for CPU and 54C for RSX, and both around low 70 ish for gaming like GTA V, God of War III. Temperature does get hotter if you ran game off Multiman since you are running game on top of another app/software that it uses more of the system power in which draw more power so more heats. You could try what gameboy suggested as like a last resort if your system randomly shutdown.
