Wow so retard
By SE I meant refunding it = getting sx os for free

+ this occupation i made it in 2015 when I was in the year before the last year of high school

Again, calling me a retard and then saying GBAtemp is cancerous.

Also, it looks like you haven't changed since 2015. Oh and refunding it isn't SE because im pretty sure you can't refund a license code since again, like TX said, it will be tied to your system. You can't use a condom and then return it.

Yeah so people will get it for free

Save Wizard for ps4 is just a savetool. What's so special about that? You can basically hack anything programmed by humans.

It’s the only save editor for ps4 and it’s been there for years
And it’s really used
Can’t you see all the gbatemp post begging for a license for this save editor?
I would be interested in knowing the amount of effort/devs that have been put into it. Surely something loading backups (on a Nintendo) console would have more attention than an obscure save editor

No, because I don't bother with the PS4 section. A save editor compared to a CFW are kinda different. Does it run on the PS4?

Again, like I said, people have different definitions for what cracking is.

>Hacking is (usually) remote, and is more in the line of exploiting vulnerabilities in the program itself in order to gain permission over it.

Not necessary. Doesn't need to be remote.

>cracking would be removing the license check on a game

Or bruteforcing a password, or doing anything in order to bypass a security system, etc.

I mean't the term cracker, and hacker. In my CS class we had different teachers calling these different things. Some called them hackers, others called them crackers. That's why I said people have different definitions.

>Brute force is cracking, while PIXIE-WPS would be considered hacking.

We're on the same page, lol. Btw what field do you work in if you don't mind me asking?

Current culture aside, I work primarily in reverse engineering hardware level security.
My latest release was a full root kit for the ZTE ZMAX PRO (Z981, Android, Update B01-B20). I also crack a few obscure games once in awhile, and back in 2015, I worked on Denuvo anti-tamper, and successfully got a key generator working (Albeit only twice before it was patched out).

For general work, I reverse malware and distribute patches.

For my day to day, I just make games.

It run on windows reason more to proof that it’s really well protected
Not really...? I'm betting it hasn't seen serious time spent on cracking it. Everything can be cracked. It's a time tested fact.

And you're hurting the seller that way. That's not social engineering, that's just stealing. I'm not gonna act like a moral fag here but come on, that is in no way social engineering.

Wikipedias definition sums it up pretty well:

"Social engineering, in the context of information security, refers to psychological manipulation of people into performing actions or divulging confidential information."

It depends on how much attention it draws from people. If it can get people really interested, it will be cracked in no time for sure.
That said, it really depends on how TX obfuscates the backup loader/License check part. I have a fair bit of reversing background under PC. Normal complier generated code can be cracked as simple as changing a jmp to nop. But if you have reversing in mind, there are ways to code it differently to make it less obvious and you can reverse it yourself to verify. On top of that you can slap on some protector such as Themida/VMProtect. That is going to make it a lot harder. But that's for PC programs...
Not sure if the situation is similar here. I'm kinda interested to see.

CPY?!?! IS THAT YOU ?! /s

But hey, you seem like a cool guy who knows his stuff, you keep doing what you do. I'm still someone who's constantly learning new things about information security, so I obviously don't have the skills you have. Hope some day ill be like you!

Oh and

(There is a longstanding controversy about the term's true meaning. In this controversy, the term hacker is reclaimed by computer programmers who argue that it refers simply to someone with an advanced understanding of computers and computer networks, and that cracker is the more appropriate term for those who break into computers, whether computer criminal (black hats) or computer security expert (white hats). A 2014 article concluded that "... the black-hat meaning still prevails among the general public")

I guess that explains my point of view *shrugs*.

Shit I wish I had CPY's skills. My attempt was most likely a fluke.

If you want to have some fun, go to vulnhub.com, and start getting into the VMs. It's excellent for beginners.

I have heard of vulnhub but never checked it out. I used hackthissite and I did download a few vmlabs online in order to conduct pentests + tests on my own controlled network.

But hey! Now I have something extra fun to do in summer, thanks!

Also at first I misread and thought you worked for denuvo, got a little pissy then reread and understood you, lol.

And why not?
Cracking a simple license check can be done in literally a single jmp.
Even if they have multiple license checks, traps, flags, and etc, it can all be cracked.
Breakpoint, flag, jmp out, breakpoint, and repeat.

Hell, once I get a copy of the OS, IllI reverse it myself.

I have no investment In the debate but please be aware that although their roster has changed AFAIK their Xbox solution still hasn't been 'hacked'.

If it is to be done and widely released I'd prefer it be from the angle of this is how they did it and this is our free open source solution which is heavily inspired by what we've learnt than the motive be 'Rararara fuck TX'.

I have no answer as to why it hasnt been cracked, but for something like this, I'd say there's more people willing to work on this due to ease of access and that (Haven't looked at selling volume yet) there seems to be more switches than Xbox One's.

Maybe it won't be cracked, and out of my skill range, but I'll at least try. Get 4-5 more people to try, and suddenly we have a lot of research to run on.

You're correct though, and there is a possibility it won't be cracked. If it is though, expect a full writeup on how, and most likely clones of it.
