its either that or return my 5.0 switch and get a 4.x switch. The other issue I have is I really want to play online so being able to stay on the latest FW is a major positive.

I was thinking about it, but at this point it seems silly when a free alternative is right around the corner from it. Likely there will be some kind of way to use their stuff without buying it anyway. Pirate to pirate!

You know, I don't think it'll be worth it, even at a price much lower than experienced scene members expected. I know I've heard a lot of bitching about how high the price is on it, but I don't think the people complaining this way have been in the scene very long or they'd know that the announced price is typically 2x-3x higher for first generation hack hardware. But even at this much more reasonable price (it's less than one new game, so you cheap wankers can chill), I don't know if it'll be worth the price knowing that a completely free alternative is hot on its heels. When Gateway 3DS first came out for instance, it was pretty expensive. But it was also the only product of its kind on the market for a long time after that, not to mention there being no free software-only methods of hacking the 3DS anywhere in sight. That's what justified its price tag: it was the only way to do what it could do.

I think ultimately the choice will come down to how soon someone can figure out how to patch the bootrom to allow Switch to boot directly into CFW without any short-circuiting shenanigans.

It depends on which features they will include. If Atmosphere will be better than TX with time, then I'll won't buy anything. But if they will support more than piracy then I'll think about it.

If TX OS releases before Atmosphere, i'll get the TX OS version.

I have the tools to get on RCM and know how to send the payloads, i don't need that dongle. Besides, i'll get access to the CFW on the same day, no shipping.
