How do I run this?
I have a 5.0 switch, do i have to put it in rcm ?

If you can run Homebrew on 5.x without RCM than you don’t.......OF COURSE YOU DO! Geez people really should search before ask. There are TONS of posts regarding this in this forum.

I dumped botw save file using the latest version, but when I try to edit it on the online save editor (https://www.marcrobledo.com/savegame-editors/zelda-botw/), it says invalid file. When I dumped it, it just stayed on copying savedata, and never said done. Any ideas?
EDIT: Is it supposed to be stuck on: Copying save:/./7/game_data_.sav... ?

so i have a breath of the wild game save that i copied from an old switch and hoped that one day i can restore it ... is it possible? everytime i copy all the contents it tells me i have to reformat the memory stick

How do I use this? I have been able to boot ubuntu (using instructions from that thread, in Linux). I want to try using the rcmsmash thing on windows. I know how to get into RCM mode, and I know to use zadig to install lubusbk drivers for the switch.

Then what? I'm assuming that I make a "switch" folder on the SD, then extract all the files into it. But there is a nut.nro in the .zip and separately as well. Why? Are they different? Is the seperate one, the one I use with the TegraRcmGUI?

Or do I need to load the hekate thing, and then this will show up in the gallery?

EDIT: Ok, so far I got hekate working with the TegraRcmGUI (awesomely easy!). Making a raw dump of my rawnand.bin right now. And, I see that the .nro in the zip is the same as the one by itself. Why put both on the release page?

EDIT2: Ok, continuing my reading while dumping the nand, I see that my assumption is acceptable. make the folder /switch/nut/ on the SD and extract the files there. This is so damn exciting! Can hardly wait to backup my stuff then play with my BoTW save files.

Yup. That's all there was to it. Maybe this dumper should add that info to the readme (where to put the files, and launch via the homebrew launcher. Yes, it's trivial, but not everyone knows this in such a relatively young scene. Thanks for the app!

Awesome! I am on 4.1.0 and was able to dump my saves and even inject it to a different profile. Injecting on the latest version gave me the "fsdevCommitDevice()" error so I had to revert back to the first version for it to work. I was even able to edit my game_data.sav for BOTW. Unfortunately I'm still very early in the game (just got a Switch recently) and don't want to ruin my adventure by giving myself OP weapons and items :( I should also mention that before you try to inject your save from one profile to another profile, that second profile should already have a game save or else you can't select it in the save tool.

What’s the chances of getting banned for missing BOTW save files and back them up when online comes out if they read the files?

I would say pretty low. You can delete them from the data management menu after all. Also, the game only keeps so many saves in the first place, so overwritten data is to be expected. Unless they implement 360 style "Achievements", with gamer perks associated with a gamer score, that carries over to multiplayer environments (the very grey area MS uses to ban single player game cheating. No, Really.) I would say Ninty has no real reason to do the banning.

Other than being pissed if your running “malicious code” from their point of view hahaha
