sorry if this is the wrong forum to ask this in, but I figured I should post here instead of the original Wii forums since I'm using vWii on a Wii U and not an actual Wii.

I've been trying to get a certain Japanese Wii game, Ikenie no Yoru, running through WiiFlow off of an SD card, but no matter what I do I can't seem to get the game to run past a black screen with gibberish white text, which I'm guessing is supposed to be Japanese. none of the buttons on my Wiimote work on this screen, and I have no other option than to unplug my Wii U to get out of it. had to unplug it so many times messing around trying to get this game working that I'm getting worried I might damage my console...

apparently, you can get the game to run past this screen by using a save file made by someone who's ran the game from the original disc. I already found a save to use, but I've read that you can't even use it unless you already have a save generated by running the game at least once. I saw someone mentioned in a thread on here that you only need to run the game up until you hit the black screen with white text for it to create a save, but it doesn't seem to be making a save at all for me.

tried running it through Configurable USB Loader too, but got the black screen. even tried using USB Loader GX with the game on an old USB stick, and the same thing happened.

is there any way at all that I can get this game running? like can I somehow get it to make a save? or is there some setting I need to change? maybe a certain cIOS I need to install?
it's really frustrating me that every other Wii game I have runs flawlessly, but this one just absolutely refuses to work...

alright, so I ended up getting the game to run today, finally.
turns out, the game won't read the save unless you move it from the SD card onto the Wii itself, which you can, while on the Wii menu, do by going into options, save data, and then selecting SD card. just select the save and click on 'move' to move it off of the SD and onto the Wii, and the game should read the save just fine.

I can't believe I spent hours fiddling around with different settings and backup loaders, when all I had to do was just move the save...
but, maybe this thread might end up saving someone else the frustration of trying to get this game running, so not a big deal I guess, ha ha.

Hello and thank you for this post that helped me a lot when I first tried to make the game boot.

If you haven't beat the game yet, I published a translation patch which you can download from here : thought you might be interested in it, and thank you again !
