Android Need Advice on Rooting a Samsung Galaxy J3 Emerge

Hi! Lately, I've been gaining interest in rooting Android, and have been doing a little research in regards to rooting my Samsung Galaxy J3 Emerge.

I've tried Googling around for information, and found this thread on the XDA Developers forum. Reading through this, I found an unofficial TWRP Release thread by ashyx, who, from what I could tell, is a respected member on the XDA Forums.

Reading through the Android threads here on GBATemp, I came across this thread on SuperSU vs. Magisk, where it seemed like most users here preferred Magisk to SuperSU, due to factors like SafetyNet bypass (which I assume is a way for apps to deny access if they detect that you're running as root?). I looked more into it, and it seems you can flash it with TWRP fairly easily.

I also Googled around for various rooting tutorials, and this one in particular seemed the most in-depth. I know that it's for the J3, not the J3 Emerge, and thus, the files linked in that tutorial will more likely than not fail to work, but the part about flashing TWRP with Odin seemed to hold true for the J3 Emerge, as I double-checked in the aforementioned TWRP Release thread.

So, from what I've gathered, it seems that in order to root my unrooted Galaxy J3 Emerge, I have to:

1. Download the appropriate USB Drivers for my J3 Emerge.
2. Enable Developer Mode on my phone (I've already done this part).
3. Enable USB Debugging on my phone.
4. Put my J3 Emerge into Download Mode.
5. Use Odin to flash TWRP into the AP Slot on my phone.
6. Reboot into recovery mode, then flash Magisk from TWRP.

From there, I assume I have my phone rooted. Is this correct? I want to double check before going any further into this, as I'm worried that I could be missing some very important step in this process.

In addition, I have a question regarding custom ROMs for my phone; I've tried searching around for custom ROMs for the J3 Emerge, and haven't had much luck finding anything (and what I did find usually involved dubious websites and broken links). Are any of you guys aware of any trustworthy and/or useful ROMs for the J3 Emerge, or am I out of luck in that regard?

EDIT (9/24): Wow, it seems this thread was viewed over 1000 times. Figured I should edit the post with relevant information; yes, I was able to root my Samsung phone successfully using this method. I've been using Magisk for this thing for a while now, and it seems to be working just fine. Was not able to find custom ROMs for my model, though.

So, do you just mean find all the files I'll need for the rooting process (i.e. TWRP, Magisk, etc.)?

Also, yeah, I know it's possible to have a phone with root using the Stock OS; I was just hoping that there were builds for the J3 Emerge out there

magisk Is not a good option if you have to unlock your boot loader as the latest safety net checks for an unlocked bootloader and is much more of a pain to install from my experience

Ah, I hadn't thought about whether or not my bootloader was locked. My carrier is Sprint, so, chances are, it is.

In that case, I should probably stick to using the Stock OS that came with the phone. Do I need to unlock or use an exploit on the bootloader in any way in order to root the phone, or can I just ignore this step?

well It will depend on which j3 you have do you know the exact model number

My model number is SM-J327P.
