Dont have a Wii in hand, but used dolphin to check the cores and this is the info you need:

FB Alpha CPS1 -> 2.97.28
FB Alpha CPS2 -> 2.97.28
FB Alpha Arcade -> 2.97.29
FB Alpha NeoGeo -> 2.97.29
Mame2000 -> 0.37b5

With the version numbers, you just need the correct DAT files and TaDa!

That was tested with RetroArch 1.7.1 Stable.

Where can I get the .dat file for each core ? :)

By downloading the PC Version of the Emulator, and pressing Generate DAT file, in mame case, you need to do this

mame.exe -lx>a.a //This will generate the game list but on a certain format not recognized as a dat.
datutil.exe a.a //This will convert the file to a dat format
del a.a //This will erase the Old File not needed anymore.

I try xmen with FBA, almost flawless, the voice of the narrator sound like slow motion, I found another core mame 078 for wii and it work well now.

I wonder if there is a place to find the lastest cores version for wii ?

i tested RA 1.7.1 mame2000 and it's very buggy, slow and crash sometimes (gng gets dsi error)
use 1.3.3 or 1.4.0 version of mame2000.

Hi, for the mame 2003, there is a list somewhere to confirm which games is supported ? because not all 0.78 rome work with retroarch mame 2003 core..

I wonder if there is a place to get the last build of mame 2003 for retroarch ? Or I can I compile it myself ?

For mame, you are better off using MameSDL, or try them with FBA Core.

Ok because I would like to keep all my arcade emulation under retroarch :) I found a .dol for mame 2003 (0.78) but I dont know if its up to date. For the moment I use it only to run xmen.zip with FBA Core it run but the sound is in slow motion, the sound with mame 2003 just run fine.

I also would like to run Asterix.zip it supposed to work with 0.78 but it doesn't with the .dol I found for retroarch.

I also have trouble to run golden axe 1 and 2.

Maybe I should use a pc to play arcade games, I think we can run almost every game without issue on a pc ? Because wii have limitations right ?

Ok, let me cut your dream here, Wii its probably the best console for home emulation, sadly, the Arcade emulation on Wii, does sucks, loading times / compatibility, etc etc, the PSP also falls under this category, it can emulate NeoGeo, CPS1 and CPS2 very good, however, when you hit MAME on the PSP, you will hit ground veyr fast.

If you want a Home console, or a Cheap product to run arcade games, get a PI, even a PI-Zero should do the job. if you can spend 60 bucks, get a PI3 with everything, aka, HDMI, power cord, case, heatsinks, case and maybe 1 controller, including the SD Card.

PI does upport the latest Mame / FBA cores, so your best bet its to hit a PI3 for optimum emulation ;D

yeah my dreams just gone lol oh well, I can still enjoy couples of games.

PI3 hey ? it sound good I already have a alienware pc in my living room that I could install mame on it but with a PI3 I could bring it with me everywhere I want to play with friends on travel. I think we can plug a Pi3 in hdmi tv right ?

to build something complete for arcade emulation, do I just need mame 0.195 or if I also need FBA Alpha, sega emulator model 2 etc ?

Or maybe I can just use RetroArch for PC ? what combination of emulator for Arcade do I need to emulate "every" games ?

i normally set up Recalbox since its more user friendly for my friends, however, a more advance OS could be RetroPie.

I normally dont play mame, since there arent that many games that im fan of, however there can be a few that i play, i mostly use FBA to play the MVS games, for example King Of Fighters, Metal Slug among others.

So yeah, if you dont want to use a PI, then just use your PC and install retroarch.

Maybe I should go with a PI if I want to bring it with me to friends home. I would like something just to plug and play. Retropie is the OS ?

I wonder if hyperspin can be installed on PI and be used with retroarch ? I would like to get a nice interface to launch game. Bring the Pi to friends home, plug in hdmi, power up, have a nice GUI and launch game on one click :)

You need to do a little research on HOW the PI handles the Games, Aka OS>FrontEnd>Cores

For Example:
[OS] - - - - - - - - [Front End] - - - - - - - [Cores]
Recalbox > EmulationStation > RetroarchCores

But that's another topic.

Hi :) there is somes games in retroarch that need samples like donkey kong to make the sound work. Do you know in which directory I must put theses samples files ?
