I was thinking of possible Switch revision systems, and one I hadn't really considered before popped into my head. A 2 screened Nintendo handheld much in the same design as a N3DSXL, perhaps slightly larger, though, the screens would still ultimately be a bit smaller than that of the Switch's. With 2 proper circle pads instead of the right one being a c-nub. This system like the original DS and DSlite would have 2 game card slots, one that could accept 3DS and DS game cards, and one that accepts Switch game cards, making it essentially 2 systems in one. Hell, optionally on the sides, they could have rails for you to put joy cons in if you'd prefer to use proper joysticks in portable mode (granted this would make it a bit wide this way, but it would be a nice alternative option, and I don't see why it still couldn't output to your TV if the proper plug were connected to the usb-c output. Maybe it could even output the 3DS/DS games to your TV when connected that way as well, if they went the extra steps to make that possible. I dunno, just a thought, such a thing would certainly be costly, but it'd be pretty cool I think, and I do really like how the DS series effectively protects its screens and face buttons with the clamshell design, and it would be nice to see that feature continue in some form on a Switch revision.

Such a fundamental shift in screen setup would mean either all the old switches can't play the new stuff, games need to be made to support two screens or nobody would use it as they are slicing a major chunk from their potential market. Strapping on another screen also adds cost and weight to a device which is already pushing it.

It might work to turn the screen 90 degrees a la a 2ds, or have a mount for the controls such that it is the same.

Controller wise then see all those ROM hacks to make games use the circle pad? Actually see all those wii hacks to make games use the GC pad? No? What chance is Nintendo going to do it for all the old games then?

The second screen would only be for when you play a DS or 3DS game. I suppose they could add optional patches for Switch games to make use of 2 screens, but that's not at all what I was meaning to imply. To your other point, it wouldn't be hard for them to have the system recognize the built in gamepad as both a 3DS set of controls as well as set of Switch controls depending on which mode you're in. They wouldn't have to make individual game patches, just have to program how the hardware functions.

i would rather just see a revision with parallax barrier 3d screen like the 3ds and then 3DS VC games
anyone who still actually has 3DS cart can just sell them and buy the digital copy , 3DS is already hacked wide open
so is switch but the revision would probably close it back up again at least for a time
the VC 3DS games could be played on tv with the second screen being the switch screen or be version that eliminate the second screen gimmick altogether ,some sort of an adapter or dock addon that would allow it to display on tv while being held , you could play in one screen mode in 3D
or if you have a 3D TV 2 screen mode in 3D or if no 3D TV then just like a 2ds
a wireless dongle or a dock with wireless connection build into it so you can use the console screen and the TV screen at the same time ,like a wii U
maybe they could even release a BOTW patch that brings back the 2 screen mode like we saw in the demos with the map on the wii u game pad
would be pretty ironic though if they scrapped it on the wii u version to make it more like the switch version and then ultimately on the switch ended it getting it instead of wii u
