I was trying to CFW my brothers 3DS, then it didn't work so I updated it to 11.6 because it was on 11.2, but now everytime I swap SD Cards the 3DS turns off
OK, were you using 3ds.guide? Do you have boot.firm at the root of the new sd?

OH and HOW DID YOU MESS UP? What did you do wrong?

If the blue light turn off right after you turn it on, it means you don't have boot.firm at the root of the SD. Try to boot into safe mode. (L+R+D-Pad UP+A+POWER)

If it works, update the system (even if it is on 11.6)

I first wanted to CFW my brothers 3DS which was on version 11.2 but I messed up with a few files and it was all going down, so I decided to update my 3ds using System Settings but it has Luma3DS inside the SD Card, it's because I thought that was how to remove CFW

should I hold it?

Yes, hold it. If that doesn't work, you might need to use this to install CFW to fix it. https://3ds.guide/ntrboot

WAIT. Did you have CFW installed after you messed up.

Explain how it says your SD card is "messed up".

Does it work for the old 3ds XL latest version

So I basically tried to CFW my brothers 3ds, then none of it worked out so I tried to remove it by deleting the files and updating it, it didn’t go well because when I swap the SD Card which had the files with another SD Card, when I open his 3DS the light goes
OK, try to download the latest Luma3ds build (8.1.1) and place the boot.firm at the root of the SD
heres the thing, I was using soundhax for the whole thing before it was updated so how can I do this?

That doesn't explain anything. You keep saying none of it works but CFW is clearly installed so what exactly is the problem?
When swapping SD cards you just need to make sure boot.firm is on the SD card.
