That's right. The battle royale FPS that's insanely popular on the PC is now available as an Xbox One exclusive. As an added bonus, Microsoft is giving away copies for free between December 17 through the 31st to those that purchase an Xbox One X within this time frame. It's available for $29.99 USD for everyone else.

I for one am really excited about this. I own a Mac, and really have no hope of this coming to macOS. However, I picked up a One S as a Christmas gift to myself, so I'm definitely grabbing this game. I'll see you out there on the field.

Not quite sure I'd be too hyped about it. There's also a few clips of it running with 5-10 more FPS on an X.

Just like playing on PC with a controller! Aside from the input lag... And less than 30fps..

On PC it's really a hit or miss depending on your hardware. I get a solid 85~ FPS in open areas and it sometimes drops down in the 50-60s in cities.

On the highest settings mind you.

@Devin, it's an early access game. I wouldn't expect it to be perfect.

Yep, I'm fully aware of Microsoft's Game Preview program but I just think it's sad that consoles are being subjected this type of content. FPS when flying in on the X1 is 12 and on the X1X it's 18. It does get to 30 FPS in some areas but eh. Just a warning that you might want to wait for some of those good ole "Increased performance on Xbox One" patch notes.

The test servers bring a fair bit of better performance.. But I'm still dropping as low as 30s with an i7 4790k and 1080ti. My CPU is aging terribly.

@Devin, why is it a shame for consoles but not PCs? Consoles have been subject to unfinished games for quite a while now. Skyrim, for example, was horribly broken on the 360 (possibly the PS3 as well). So much so that there were bugs that prevented one from completing the game. And don't even get me started on the debacle that Sonic Boom was. This isn't even a AAA title, so I'm more than glad to give it leeway regardless of the platform. When people buy these early access games expectations should be kept to a minimum.

Weird, that's my CPU along with a better GPU. (I have an EVGA FTW 1080.) Running mine at stock even though I do have an AIO cooler. Other than that there really shouldn't be much difference FPS wise between us. (I do have 32GBs of RAM but seeing as PUBG is a CPU intensive game that shouldn't matter at all.)

Honestly, I would like to test this on my MBP. It has an i7 4980HQ with a Radeon R9 M370X, but I just can't bring myself to install Windows. I may look into getting a GPU passthrough setup instead. I already have a Windows 10 VM that I use once in a while for Wii U and 3DS specific tools, so it'll be a fun learning experience.

My GPU is the best consumer one out there thooo..

I'm looking into it, as performance is decaying for a lot of games.

I hope I don't need to downclock. D:

It's a shame on PC as well. I'm more so going off of my own mindset of console games being polished and uniformed performance across the board. If I had an Xbox One and bought a game for it then I'd have reasonable expectations for that game to run well enough on the hardware. (Which is one of the key points of having a console. The simplicity of throwing a game on it, that was made for it and have it just work. No "Is my GPU strong enough or do I need to upgrade my CPU?" or in this case it's "Is my X1 good enough or should I spend $500 to upgrade it to the X1X?").

Early access games should be for supporting a developer during production for the design aspect rather than performance. If you have a fun playable game but don't have the story/mechanics down yet then I'd be content with playing what you do have so far. Being able to play a dev's work and have the community help with the development is a great thing. (Doing so and getting the game at a cheaper price than it will be at launch is a nice perk as well.)

(It's not the same but I backed Superhot based on the web version alone. I know they didn't sell me the web version but it sold me on the final game so I backed it. Since then they've given me a Steam key for the original game, Oculus Rift key, HTC Vive key and I even got an email with a key to their new DLC which they didn't have to do at all. Albeit Superhot isn't on a massive scale like PUBG it's still a model example of a game coming out with a teaser/sandbox versions (They offered "EA" beta versions of the title to their Kickerstarter backers which included a few more levels than the web version.), offering preorders for the game based on what you've played so far and then releasing the game. Being able to support a "playable" game while it's being developed is what EA should be. I'm going off of 20 FPS for a fast pace shooter on the X1 as not being playable.)

Meh. I was watching the video game awards with some people and during a trailer for PUBG coming to Xbox, I howled "Booooo" at Xbox. Nobody in the group liked that brand. I just like that moment, worth sharing, otherwise this piece of news doesn't affect me.
