Homebrew Switching SD Cards

Hey guys, im trying to move data off of my 128gb transcend SD card to my 128gb sandisk SD card. Problem is my transcend card has 124GB of space (all partitions included) and my sandisk only has 119, so doing a full partition copy from apps like easeus or mini partition tool dont work. there was also a method of making an image of the sd card but that doesnt work either being as though the image that comes out is 125gb so it blocks me from restoring it on my sandisk card.

are there any alternative methods that would work?

Use a partition tool to shrink the 124GB partition to 119GB first. Then do the transfer.

Thanks! but i did try that, it still blocks me from doing it because the overall storage is lower than the 124GB one ;-;

Why are you trying to clone the card? Just copy and paste the files on it. If you have an emuNAND, there's a different way to go about it.

because i didnt know you could just copy the files over and it just works. i was under the impression that youd have to do a full setup of the sd card again for luma+A9LH+godmode. but anyway! thanks so much!

Why are you trying to clone the card? Just copy and paste the files on it. If you have an emuNAND, there's a different way to go about it.

so i transferred everything and it doesn't boot from that SD. the Blue light comes on for power and then turns back off. but it boots from the old SD card with no problem. mind u this is a brand new SD card.

The card is formatted as FAT32 and you have the boot.firm file from the old SD card on it?

Yup 128GB Sandisk formatted to FAT32 with 32kb clusters, and all I did was select all and copy the files to the new SD

Check to see if your card is corrupted. Also if you followed the guide all the way like you were supposed to you would have boot.firm on the ctrnand preventing the issue but we'll do that later.

its not corrupted, checked for errors and also read write access etc. nothings working for me atm, idk what im doing wrong

i said all those GB were "free" meaning "free space" not used. im only moving 4-5GB.

Try replacing your "arm9loaderhax.bin" with a fresh one from here: https://github.com/AuroraWright/Luma3DS/releases/tag/v7.0.5

If you console loads using the new SD card after that, then I'd suggest updating A9LH to B9S. But I won't get ahead of myself.

If that doesn't work, you can update your A9LH to B9S first and then try to copy the file to your new SD card.

i redid the format and copied the files over so im trying that now.

Also, I've heard that using 64kb vs 32kb cluster size on larger cards makes them more compatible with the 3DS; namely with games running in TWL/AGB. Yet, it's another suggestion you can try.

it's really simple and takes like 5 mins. Then you can update your Luma to 8.1.1 and be all set
