i tried for a good 10-15 mins to OPEN my switch, shit as if it has invisible screws.

You need a few different tools to open the thing, its a pain. I'd recommend watching a tear down before trying because there are a number of little things that you can accidentally break and brick the system. I was extremely meticulous when I went digging into mine to find that there's very little room for anything. I do not recall anything like a CMOS battery, and disconnecting the main battery unit did not reset anything when I had it back together. If it has a battery somewhere, its very well hidden and possibly not in plain view.

That being said, it must have some long-term low-power source hidden, I might try cracking my spare open again to see if I can find it later on.

You know what the sad thing about all this, Golf wasn't even that great of a game. People will tear apart their Switches now to mess with it so they can play such a basic game.

Hm.... this is freaking bizarre.

1.0 systems are able to do it, but anything afterward isn't? I wonder what kind of changes have been made to the code since 1.0.

This is more about the mystery at this point, and a cool easter egg at that.

According to yellows8, one must find a way to remove a cache file on the Switch module, without connecting to the Wifi.

I fear that the cache file, once connected to Wifi, cannot be removed permanently.
Even if it stores some offset/reference permanently to disk, removing the battery should at least confuse/offset whatever's stored in that file(?)

I have a 2.3.0 console that's never been connected to the Internet and I can't get it to work.
I suppose there's also a possibility that after 1.0 the easter egg was made more obscure. Did you try letting the home screen dim first before trying the gesture? And also making sure nothing else was running on it.

I just don't believe thay the source is real, like we haven't actually seen it performed on a 1.0 console yet, heck the other day Plutoo was telling is that the X button was a trigger! Don't go tearing apart your switch yet.

It's already on the Twitter feeds of yellows8, smea, shuffle2, Shiny Quagsire, qlutoo, and other tinkerers' Switches.

For what it's worth, there are no NES Roms anywhere in the console's NAND/etc where flog could access them, even if you somehow managed to launch flog.

Anyway, OP's a liar, move on, nothing to see here.

this quote reads a little awkward , im not sure what to say , maybe this guy is right .. hmm the confusion !

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM

  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm

i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space

Nor clothes 🤮 . Saves on time, soap, water and money having to wash them. :D
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@rqkaiju2, Physical media is a great source for archiving your data, none of that cloud storage shiz.
