So the DSi is now gonna be hackable like the 3DS after like 10 years maybe? Anyways I already asked a question like this along the lines but if I have a hacked 3DS, isn't this a bit pointless? I know you can't run DSiware with a flashcart (why?) but most of the dsiware is on the (fre)eshop already.

i mean, i'm not trying to put this down, this is pretty sweet. just wonderin'.
1.- The DSi is the real hardware.
2.- DS games looks better than on the 3DS.
3.- The 3DS cannot run decrypted nand for redirected nand.
4.- The DSi is cheaper, so is better option if you only care for DS and GBA games.

1. - Yeah I can get that.
2. - Depends on what you're talking about, holding select while launch DS mode actually makes it smaller removing blur.
3. I don't know what that means. :/

Its to revive the console, and open up the development of it, Most of us have dsi's that dont get used. Its nice to dust off a old console and play around with it

I played with haxxstation for too long :P
But yes, reviving a dead console like this is great to play some of the older games.

That involves a significant downgrade in its own right- the play area's much smaller than on, say, a DSi XL.

That makes a tremendous difference for games that require a decent level of stylus precision - the Etrian Odyssey games are much nicer experiences when played on a larger display.

********ATTENTION EVERYONE*****
Right now I need information, from what is publicly available about what everyone can piece together about the whole CFW & RocketLauncher process (assuming you are on 1.4 and have a hax like sudokuhax ) so this is kind of like you writing a tutorial. Best submission gets to be in the credits!
(Of the site)

Here's a rundown of what the RocketLauncher + HiyaCFW Installation will be like if you're not on 1.4. So you boot whatever DSiware exploit you have, with FwTool.nds being what you boot into. Then you dump nand_dsi.bin and CID.bin and exit FwTool. after that you use the instructions from the Dsi Downgrade Guide https://gbatemp.net/threads/dsi-downgrading-the-complete-guide.393682/ To get your Console ID and Decrypt the nand. Then you downgrade the system version and system settings (also following the guide instructions), and install the custom RocketLauncher whitelist made with the .nds rom dump of the retail cart you want to use/For the flashcart you want to use. After that you Encrypt your Nand, put it back on your DSi SD card, Insert your modified nand with DSiware+FWtool and boom you have RocketLauncher. Now just put the HiyaCFW.nds as boot.nds on the root of your DSi SD card and boot the rocketlauncher exploit and you're running CFW. If you're on 1.4 the process is the same it's just you don't need to downgrade anything just install the custom whitelist. If you're <1.4 Downgrade is replaced with upgrade of course. Also on the donations page it still says 3DS Guide

Thank you for all this info! Also, I'll fix that up, I didn't focus on messing with the donations page much because I really didn't consider it a priority. I will add you to the credits.

Does FWTool include the ability to unmount/remount the SD card without manually restarting the program? Decrypt9/etc have had that feature for a while.

Given how long it apparently takes to activate that Flipnote Studio exploit, going through it twice seems a little excessive.

Just to clarify,
1. If you were already on 1.4, would you need NUSDownloader or FWTool?
2. So there will be a program that takes your Rom dump and converts it into a RocketLauncher nds?
Thanks.

1. You should only need FWTool, since the only part of the NAND you would change is the whitelist which will be the custom RocketLauncher one.
2. I think the program will take a rom dump of your retail card and make a custom RocketLauncher whitelist, otherwise it might make a .nds that installs the whitelist although that is unlikely. I think the program will be for PC but I am unsure.

So with HiyaCFW, do you have to convert .nds roms to something like .cia for 3DS or can you drag and drop .nds ROMS and it will work?
There are a lot of kind of .nds files: dsiware, retail cartridge dumps, homebrew and old homebrew. On the DSi Menu you will only able to install dsiware games and homebrews, for retail games and old homebrews you will need to run them using SRLoader.

being on 1.45 the only exploit i have access is the Biggest loser, that is how i got my DSi XL CID, is there a way to boot into FwTool.nds ? I thought it couldn't be done that way.....
