You could... Or you could follow 3ds.guide, and then install your 3DS games and use TWLoader for DS games.
Except not every DS game is compatible with TWLoader. A bunch of them aren't. And in order to play Diamond and Pearl, I have to use an unofficial build that removes compatibility with other games....

this card is a timebomb. do not buy it
This PLUS the poor quality (occasional spontaneous bricking) PLUS it's overpriced (it's a $10 flashcard, for $14 you can get a r4i-sdhc with the "-", for $18 you can get a better performing and strongly recommended r4ids.cn)

And it doesn't support the small N3DS :P

TWLoader is extremely slow to load games, though it is progressing nicely I wouldn't call it a stable DS emulator. Not even close.

At any case go with what slaphappygamer said and just use that flashcard that he linked. OR get a DSTWO for the best results, IF you want to play GBA/SNES games from your flashcard rather than the 3DS itself for some reason.

Get a DSTWO. That's the best card on the scene. Install the whitelist and your done. TWLoader will be a while before it's Upto standard for full comparability.
dstwo isnt needed since the OP has luma. r4i gold 3ds rts is the one OP needs

Luma doesn't need a whitelist. If the card is able to boot on any 3ds firmware then the card will work regardless

DSTwo doesn't need a whitelist so... Also it's better for OP to just get a R4i today.

I have my old Dstwoo (bought with my first gen 3ds back in 2012 ) . Works great on my new3dsXL with b9's + luma . Even better because I don't have to update like before (when new firmware is out). Save state on ds games ...
Even the gba emulator built in is great, but I prefer a emulator in my home screen for that.

Oh, come off it? I don't know what people are smoking when they say this. This DSTWO GBA emulator is horrible, and the SNES one is a joke.

I hope you are injecting GBA games and using nintendo 'VC' (which is actually running the game natively on GBA firmware, just like real GBA)
