More than likely, ntrboothax will come out (and I'll have an AK2i) before the next 3DS update comes out.
Yeah, that's probably the best move. I highly doubt they're going to release any updates any time soon, because all the new exploits (besides the ones like ntrboothax and sighax, which can't be patched) are being kept a secret until the 3DS end of life. Those "stability" updates are actually just meant to patch the exploits we find... -_-
I don't believe it is. It's warranty should have just expired maybe just over a month ago. I'm trying to find out when it was bought exactly, and if it's like a month out of warranty, I may see if NOA will still take it, since that would be faster than ntrboothax. (Possibly.) It's good to know they'll take it though, and I already deleted the old homebrew stuff off of the SD card, since I only ever used CHMM2 for a custom theme I made for the friend.
You don't necessarily have to send it's SD card in... Also, they may just end up giving you a new motherboard, but inside the same case. So make sure your friend disconnects her NNID (through Nintendo), and takes out any game carts...
If I could, I wouldn't send the SD anyways. Might as well use it for something else if I did send the system, and I don't think her account is linked anymore, since from what I heard, it formatted itself. But if it came down to it, she could always send a support ticket to transfer it to the new one.
That's what I gathered from what friend told me. She told me that when she turned it on, it started acting weird, and then had her do the initial setup again, and when it finished and she pushed the home button, it bricked.
Unfortunately that's about all I know about what happened to it. Seems like something corrupted on the nand.
We'll know once ntrboothax comes out. (I'm real curious so hopefully that's not too far away.)
She wouldn't be able to sell it for much. She can try to send it to Nintendo, but they'll charge her....
It wouldn't be a software problem, it would be a mechanical problem. If the 3ds makes a popping sound from the speakers and turns off, there is a fix. I have to confirm with the op
I guess it's just when the speakers turn on and off because it's very faint (Putting the system up to my ear makes it audible.) and my stock system does it too when it turns on and off.
It's not what I thought then. You could wait until Nintendo releases an update. My older 3ds was dropped by a friend and it unseated the top screen ribbon cable. That isn't what you have though. Do you know what she last did right before it bricked?
That's what I though aswell, since when it happened, she told me that the screens stopped working, but it just wasn't booting properly.
Please do that, though I think custom firmware and ntrboothax are the only saviors for her 3DS now (unless she wants to hand Nintendo $70+)...
