Hardware Switch has no 1080P option.

Maybe the switch isn't saying it's outputting to 1080p but maybe your tv does. When you select the HDMI source or turn on your tv, is there something on the screen that says "HDMI (number) 1080P"?

Do you have a game like Breath of the Wild suspended? It could be that because Breath of the Wild can't reach 1080p that playing such a game while trying to adjust this setting bottlenecks you so that you don't set it to 1080p and then wonder why your game is only 900p at best.

I have not touched that game since March when I first bought it.

Well sorry it didn't appeal to you, but that really wasn't my point, just trying to find a reason why you for some reason don't have the 1080p option and it didn't have to be Zelda, just any game you might have suspended that's too intensive for the Switch to retain 1080p at all times, and floating any possible reason I could to help you. Based on everything I'm hearing it sounds like your TV may just not be fully compatible with the Switch for whatever reason despite being able to handle 1080p with other systems.

Can you post a screenshot? Every screen I've seen of the Switch's TV Resolution option (including the one posted earlier in this thread) shows Auto, "480p", "720p", and "1080p".

Is it possible? If my tv can play my ps4 and wii u with no problem on 1080P, then my tv supports 1080P Right?

In theory it should work just fine, but I certainly wouldn't be surprised if a few TVs out there for whatever reason are having trouble being properly recognized by the Switch. I remember some system receiving an update where the log stated it added 1080p support for problem TVs that weren't properly being recognized by the system as a 1080p TV. Can't honestly remember what system it was that I saw this under its update log for, but I remember it clear as day. If you can't find any solution, I'd recommend trying another TV, alerting Nintendo to your make and model of TV and hoping that a future system update will ensure your TV is properly recognized.

Is your TV a true 1080p TV or is it a 720p TV that allows you to downscale from 1080p to your tv's native resolution?
Add to that: What's the brand and model number of the TV?

It could very well be a bad EDID. This was notorious for causing all sorts of problems on Linux systems some time ago. (One Samsung TV caused my ThinkPad T60p to run ridiculously slowly due to a broken EDID.) The Linux kernel's EDID parser nowadays is more robust and full of special cases to handle these broken EDIDs.

your Tv is a 720p (1360x768) my tv doe the same with ps4 pro show 1080p but when i add a switch it did the same as you the switch detect the maximum output resoultion which is 720p...a full hd tv with 1360x768 is still sharp enough to think it is a 1080p but hey 720p is still nice and if it is full ips like mine that a plus!
