Is there some reason other devs cant run their CFWs on B9S or are they just not interested in the scene anymore?
Luma devs helped write B9S. Corbenik devs were a little mad not to be included, but in the end, B9S was a public beta open to all devs. In any case, that's why Luma worked as soon as B9S was released. They helped write it.

Kudos to the Luma3DS team for all their contributions (@Aurora Wright/@TuxSH), it is sad to see Corbenik dev (@chaoskagami) have to stop his great work. I hope someone picks up the project as it is truly a great CFW. B9S kinda forced the other CFW devs hands a little as all other entrypoints to load CFW were dropped making Luma3DS the obvious choice for early B9S adopters. I myself have one B9S system (Luma3DS) and one A9LH system (Corbenik). I would like to run ReiNand on my B9S system once AGB/TWL patching is implemented.

Wheres ReiNAND, Corbenik, Cakes, etc. for B9S 1.2? Have all the devs on those cfws just quit? WHERES THE VARIETY?!?!?!?!?!??!
Luma Rosalina-works on B9S
Luma Stable- works on B9S
Corbenik- DEAD, needs CTRBoot9 to run on B9S
ReiNAND-works on B9S
Cakes-Not dead, works on B9S (considered as a STABLE CFW)

There aren't many devs willing to put their passion into new CFWs these days, since most users will just use Luma anyway. I've also heard that some users have been rude to CFW devs mostly because of what they perceive as the inferiority of their project, although I haven't really seen this myself (save for one guy who insulted the Corbenik dev, but that was because he quit).. The Corbenik dev was working on Corbenik until a short time ago, until he got frustrated at some bugs and B9S compatibility and, of course, an existing lack of ongoing enthusiasm for working on Corbenik.

As far as I know, the only CFWs currently active are B9S and CrimsonMaple's ReiNand. There was some talk of forking Corbenik, but I've yet to see anything happen in that regard.

Please refer to my above comment to see which of the mainstream CFWs are active, stable, or dead.

This^. I also feel part of the problem was members being dicks to the devs who do all this for free and now most of them quitting/leaving because of the toxicity is affecting the members that actually use and appreciate their hard work.

Well said @-G-. I have been critical of Luma3DS in the past as I prefer a more basic CFW, but I have always made sure to acknowledge and appreciate the efforts of all the devs for their work. It is sad that @AuroraWright had to leave the Luma3DS thread but I understand and respect the decision. The forums do seem alot more civilized (CFW Threads) compared to before @AuroraWright left.

You put one file on the SD card, and you're done. It doesn't get any more basic than that.

Same. I don't need Rosalina, LayeredFS, and all that i just want to install CIAs
Then don't use them.
If anything ReiNAND would be more difficult to use for that since it takes longer to support newer firmwares.

It literally took me 10 minutes to update reinand for 11.4. don't talk about things you don't understand. It's okay if you don't want to use ReiNand. I'm not hurt. Just don't go pissing on my work.

I hope for an alternative too. I used luma a lot recently but in my special case the new builds break many things and workarounds (e.g. all old *hax) which worked for a really long time. Of course a9lh is not supported anymore so I'm forced to update sooner or later.

I asked for a solution on github and instead of "ok, we'll look into this bug and fix that" (which in my opinion as a technician/programmer is the obvious answer), the best I got was: "use the legacy build instead". I bet the next thing which will get "patched" will be dropped emunand support.
Sorry luma, I appreciate new features and stuff but I don't get why all old stuff is not supported anymore. If I would do this in my business I'll get fired the next day. Of course it is opensource and I'm happy with that but I never would make such a decision.
It is not hard to maintain compatibility especially if you make an option for it.

I echo @-G- I don't require Rosalina, LayeredFS, etc (hence why I stated ReiNand was more basic). I appreciate the options but maintaining all the extra options one would lend itself that there would be more bugs. In this sense I only use cias (3DS/GBA/DSiWare) so ReiNand suits my needs. Luma3DS is more for the power user who wants the kitchen sink. There are literally 20+ threads for Luma3DS issues. All these options are hard for @AuroraWright and @TuxSH to maintain (just look at the sheer number of commits on the github of Luma). I want to reiterate that while I appreciate the efforts of all devs and their works it is easy to see why @AuroraWright stepped away from support here on these forums as when a feature is buggy the users go into attack mode with complaints and it is taxing to the dev.

ReiNAND isn't a useless CFW, as it handles things very differently than Luma and appeals to a completely different audience. Don't be pissin' on stuff just because you don't like it kid...
P.S. For anyone reading his post, I never said ReiNAND was useless...

Here is my reasoning.

I have tried Luma3DS and ReiNand. Luma3DS has a wiki to explain each option and how to setup your config and use (multiple emunand, run sysnand with emunand fw, game patching, etc). ReiNand has no features the user needs to enable/disable or comprehend. I have 1 simple need to install and play games with sig checks disabled. ReiNand = no config just simplistic. I only wish ReiNand had AGB/TWL patching feature so it would remove the requirement of having to install a hacked/patched AGB/TWL cia on your Nand(sys/emu) to enable custom GBA cias and DSiWare cias to run.

If you use bootctr9 as your boot.firm you can boot older cfw bin payloads such as the may3rd skieth nightly (working splash screen and chainloader for old bin payloads) and cakes through b9s.Reinand might also work but only on the new3ds I think.

@BARNWEY, thanks for the clarification. Your post is exactly what I am trying to echo. I'm just not as good as you at making my case without writing a novel.
