New mobile game PokeLand revealed, Japan-only for now

Nintendo seems to have found a niche in the mobile market, after the successes of titles like Miitomo, Fire Emblem Heroes, and Pokemon Go. Their latest project is to be called PokeLand, which is a toned-down, mobile-styled version of the Pokemon Rumble series. The game is currently in alpha testing, for Japan only, which starts today, and will run until June 9th. It features 134 different Pokemon, along with 52 different levels to explore. There's no word on if PokeLand will come west, at this time.

magikarp jump is quite fun. I'm playing it myself. I do wish that the jump battles were more fun and interactive though. They're just extremely dull and boring.

A logical but terrible conclusion drawn from the success of Rumble World, Shuffle, Go, etc. Now all spinoff Pokémon games will be freemium mobile games, instead of proper games. At least they aren't (completely) pay-to-win, yet.

Yeah...

They have a lot of work ahead of them...

(I tried playing the alpha, and it's a bit too fast paced with a ton of reused assets from proir titles (to be expected with an alpha build) and gameplay that's too simplistic)

Thankfully, it's an alpha build so it will be optimized and primed into a gem, they're just starting with a piece of coal.

It's still an alpha so the graphics will certainly evolve and more pokemon will be added.
It looks promising for now, I hope it's not riddled with micro-payment.

Mystery Dungeon would probably stay on consoles. I don't think it would work very well with touch controls, and especially not swipe controls.

I'm pretty sure Pokemon Rumble was already toned-down and mobile-styled.
Not sure how they could tone it down any more without turning it into a clicker/waiting game.
But eh. Pokemon Rumble is a half decent series, I suppose it'll be fun for short plays, like most mobile games.

I'd like to remind you that this is The Pokemon Company's doing. They've been making apps for mobile way longer than Nintendo has as well.

Nintendo is still new to the mobile market but Pokemon, they're well aware of how this market works...

Because trying to let users who can't get a console or don't want one be able to play is sickening.
You say that as if phones don't have the most games and apps anyway. Plus it doesn't matter anyway. It is depressing to see that nintendo ignores its own products to make games for phones. Because gaming on a phone is and always will be different than gaming on a console/handheld/pc. I'm not even saying it's wrong, just that it's depressing to me.

Tfw someone says that it's Nintendo's fault for a 2nd-party developer's decision to focus some efforts to make titles on mobile.

Please look back at when The Pokemon Company started making apps for mobile (hint!: It was a while before Nintendo even liked the mobile market)

The pokemon company and nintendo are pretty much linked. It's pretty obvious they used and are using pokemon to test the mobile waters.

Now that Nintendo has like 2-3 games coming out in the future, they can just hang low and make some extra money off the mobile platform
