I thought I was clear when I asked to shut it down REMOTELY.
How could anyone else consider it remotely if the damn console is in reach?
A client phones me up tomorrow and asks me for remote shut down on their PC and I will think they want to do it via network, and I will probably also end up with the nightmare of wake on LAN too.
The PS4 and xbone both have options for this sort of thing as well

There may also be a design case for not doing things over joy cons if it in turn maybe forces people to get up to do it that they in turn put them on charge.
Option 2. Your switch should respond to your TV state, or there is an option somewhere called "Match TV Power State". If you are playing your switch in stand mode with the joycons and have eyes like a hawk or something and can play it far enough away that you can not faceplant onto it then so it goes I guess.
