ROM Hack Can I do a data tranfert beetween my old 3DS --> a new 3DS ?

Hello !

I have actually a 3DS XL hacked in 11.4 (hacked in 11.2 at origins)

I want to buy a New 3DS XL in 11.0 (I have already found it) and that's my question :

It's possible to hack easy the NEW in 11.0, but when I do my data transfert, a update is necessary ?
When the data is begin, the SD Card of the NEW is formatted or not ? If it's formated, can I lose the data of the hack ?

I need your help.

I don't know if it's a good idea to buy a New 3DS...

Its safe to do a data transfer, just backup your sd card after you cfwed the n3ds. To cfw use the guide, if the n3ds has things in the sd card it will also be deleted

Ok. Tell me if I'm wrong :

First, I hack my NEW 3DS 11.0 with soundhax.
2- I make a copy of the SD Card inside my NEW 3DS, -> to my PC.
3- I proceed to a data transfert Old3DS to New 3DS. --> The SD Card N3DS is deleted.
4- I backup the SD DATA saved on my computer now in the SD formated (inside the N3DS)

It's working ot it's impossible ?

First you get cfw on your n3ds 3ds.guide
Then backup your o3ds sd card on your pc
Then if files are on the n3ds back them up too
Then start system transfer, afterwards merge the o3ds and n3ds files into the n3ds files

And on the N3DS, I want to use boot9traphax.

It's incompatible ?

System transfer cant transfer a9lh or b9s so you have to reinstall it, it is most likely compatible with b9s so no problem there

It's no problem. System transfer can't tell if you're using A9LH, B9S or whichever. As long as they are on the same firmware version it will work. So once both are hacked, make sure they're both updated to the latest (11.4) and the transfer should work fine.

After a backup of this SD Card, it's necessary to re-hack the N3DS in 11.4 ?

Or the previous hack in 11.0 Will be functionnal ?

The card will not be formatted, but the subfolder in "Nintendo 3DS" that relates to your old NAND (on the target 3DS) will be deleted. The subfolder that relates to the to-be-transferred NAND on the source 3DS will be formatted just the same.
You probably won't be using the old NAND anymore, so that's not an issue.
But if you for some reason would like to access the old NAND on either 3DS again later, make an emuNAND/sysNAND backup first (depending on what you are using, but if you're on A9LH/B9S it's probably sysNAND) then back up all the SD card files including the emuNAND/sysNAND backup to your PC and preferably to a second location as well, like Dropbox, a NAS, external HDD, whichever.
But no, you don't need to re-hack. A9LH, B9S, Luma etc are not affected by the transfer nor are any of your HBL apps. But you will need to reinstall NTR-CFW, Luma Updater, HB Launcher Loader, FBI, FreeShop (if you use those) on the target and source 3DS, along with any other CIA based homebrew you use.

Edit: The easiest way to get FBI onto a 3DS seems to be by entering Luma settings (hold Select on boot) and enabling the Service/SVC/ARM9 access patch. Then you should be able to boot FBI.3dsx from any *hax entrypoint (assuming you have one that works on your current firmware) and installing FBI.cia from there. If you don't have a working *hax entrypoint then you may have to reinject FBI with GodMode9, following the steps in Section IV from here: https://3ds.guide/finalizing-setup

You will want to make sure you have GodMode9.firm/.bin in the luma\payloads folder on SD (depending on whether you are on B9S or A9LH on that particular 3DS) before you try booting holding Start, but you should already have those if you followed 3ds.guide.
