Homebrew installed a9lh and 3ds doesn't turn on anymore

I think the problem is having theme data associated with a later firmware (if you have just downgraded) not because it is corrupted. It gives you a black screen on boot. I don't think there's any error?
I am not totally sure about that one because I've never run into a problem with my theme causing issues when downgrading. That doesn't mean it's not possible, just I've never had it happen before.
Edit: It appears a test like this has already been preformed

He's probably thinking in terms of theme data that can prevent a system from booting. Also, again, read a thread before replying to it. He has no NAND backup.
The thing is though it's a friend's 3ds, and if they followed the guide up to date, a nand backup is now mandatory. Im thinking that the OP just doesn't have access to the nand backup, but it might exist.

Actually read my post before calling me out.
As for the OP, it sounds like a soft brick caused by either missing or corrupted files. Something that more than likely requires a NAND backup and hardmod to fix.
My post wasn't completely directed at the OP, but at the thread as whole. This problem most likely needs a hardmod and NAND backup to fix. It's a post of doom and gloom when you realize that the OP's friend's 3DS is most likely something we can't fix.
But I will clear up my post to prevent further confusion

I thought restoring a NAND backup was only mandatory for N3DSes due to bricking when updating from 2.1.0. Granted restoring NAND backup is preferred for O3DSes but not mandatory(unless you want to keep all your previous data). If the OP has an O3DS and it's a soft brick, holding A+R+L+Up(DPad) and powering up should at least get the 3DS working again. The OP will just have to wait until the next kernel exploit or SigHax to be released.

Edit: Just to clarify, I don't mean not making a NAND backup, that's mandatory for sure. I was referring to restoring a NAND backup.

NAND backups should always be mandatory. It doesn't matter what system you are running, anything can go wrong and your system can get bricked. Always make a NAND backup

I didn't mean not making one, I was referring to restoring one. My apologies for not being more clear.

In that case, on the new3DS it's required to restore from your NAND backup to update your system. Otherwise the system can't properly upgrade from 2.1.

as in mandatory i mean the program safectrtransfer makes a nand backup regardless if you want one or not.

When I read this kind of thread I cannot help but think that people like to make things harder than they really are...

If I remember correctly it asks you but you can decline it by pressing B.
Yeah, it did just ask if you wanted to....which was dumb because people actually declined...
But this is becoming off topic and honestly, I don't think there's much I can do to help here.
It looks like they need a NAND backup, something they don't have.

Yup. I remember reading many threads with people who didn't have NAND backups because they choose to skip it. It's good to hear the devs went that extra mile to help people not make that mistake.

@PudimEXTREMI - be aware that you f****d up pretty bad, your case it pretty unique. As such it piqued the interest of a friend of mine, someone who may be able to fix this console. Take note of 'may'. If you ask me, chances are pretty good, around 80...90%, to get this back up and running. DSiWare and DS carts will most likely never work again, though.

You'd have to send in the OTP and all other relevant data you have (for example the data you used for the last A9LH install), and FIRM XORpads would highly increase the chances of this being fixed. More info may also help. You'd also have to pay for shipping to europe, and you'd have to pay for shipping back to your country, and that is without any guarantee that you will receive a fixed 3DS back (we can't tell).

I'll make this offer only one time (won't offer it to anyone else), and you don't have to take it. I guess I should have enough streetcred by now that you know I can be trusted and your 3DS won't simply vanish. If you're interested, send me a pm.
Well i apreciate the offer, but as i live in Brazil, shipping all the way to Europe and then back again would cost more than a new 3ds on the internet, and the way internacional shippings are handled here, i would probably have to pay even more for it to get in and out of the country, besides there's still a chance it's completely lost. I don't want to be rude but it's just a worthless ofer, all things considered.
Any way, thanks for all the help, will play it safe and ask for help first next time.

What kind of 3DS is it? If it's an O3DS, have you tried holding A+R+L+Up(DPad) while you power up?
Well?

If worse comes to worse, if the n2dsxl doesnt hardware patch any major hax exploits, it's 30 bucks cheaper.

Still, hold onto it for a while longer. And get informed about hardmodders in your country. There is a distinct possibility that at some point sighax will be figured out, and that will in fact allow you to safe that console.

EDIT: Also, post #2500, whooooo!

In Brazil there is @mvmiranda that actually does hardmod on 3DS, but unfortunately he can't do much without a proper NAND backup of this specific 3DS.

As I said, wait for a bit. Once SigHax has been figured out, any 3DS can be safed, even without a NAND backup. The one thing that may be dead forever is online play, though.
