Hacking "What is a legit cia?" (and other noob CIA questions ANSWERED)

Hi there all,

I've just finished following the soundhax homebrew guide (https://3ds.guide/homebrew-launcher-(soundhax)) and everything went fine. I've copied over the CIA file for Majorca's Mask 3D (downloaded from to the root of my SD card and opened up FBI on my New 3DS XL and installed it. I've gone to then load the game up and I get a "an error has occurred forcing the software to close. the system will now restart" error message.

I've not tired installing another game yet but could it be a corrupted file? Have I missed something out after completing the guide? I've followed the guide all the way up until the end.

Try to use Freeshop instead of downloading the CIA from the internet

I'm currently having this problem aswell on a New3DS right after I successfully installed Bootstrap[former arm9 user] apparently this error "an error has occurred forcing the software to close, the system will now restart"
only happens to Pokemon Sun/Moon even my Moon Cartridge which makes no sense as it works fine on my Old3DS

sorry, i'm trying to help the guy here. he is on 11.2 with gateway, and wants to stay on 11.2. do cia games force an update? say i'm on 10.1 and i wan't to play mario maker from freeshop, will i have to update to 11.2?

if the game itself requires the update then yes, you must update

They are be sold as original with bundle of 21 Original Games that include the very know 19 USA Legit cia. Of course was installed with FBI.

But in the bundle comes 2 zelda games that its no USA Legit .cia

Ocarina of Time was never pre-installed. Majora's Mask was though.

Thought of it as such, but only EU got a Majora's Mask legit CIA, US system came with only the system not the game

True but you can still install it on a US system that has only arm11 kernel access, you would have to use HANS with plain homebrew to launch it.

But this is the point. Someone selling it orr installed both of then in US console. And with no CFW.

I don't understand. Installing Ocarina of Time is impossible with no CFW.
