Well i have a friend who didn't had any computer
then i found a way to find one for him but it wasn't powerfull enough to run windows in an usable way
so i put it on linux
then there are the ~/.xinitrc and ~/.config
I show them to him and told him to never ever touch them or any file with a "." in the home directory (otherwise his computer wouldn't boot)
He goes back at home with his first working computer and then call me because it won't boot
and want me to fix it through the phone so i spend 15 minute to tell him how to type his login + password in the prompt
then after another 15 minute of phone forensic with someone who make mistake in commands
I ask him to login with his normal user instead of root one
so i tell him to write "su hisusernamethathisprivate" and then he says it is asking him something
so he read it to me and i realize it is zsh that ask for first configuration because no .zshrc have been found
then i ask him to do 'cd' and then 'ls -al' and he read me all the files, and i realise all the .* files are missing
I ask him if he touched any files and he says : oh yeah i mooved them to clean up
so i ask him where and he say in a file called "?" (yeah on top of that he didn't even used normal character for filename which is anoying)
So I ask him why the first thing he does is mooving them knowing that i especialy told him not to
and he says mooving is not touching *facepalm*
then we start using messenger for him to read the commands
so then i ask him to just do a mv \?/* ./
and he can't write that
then i ask him to do a cd ?
and then pwd to be sure he is in the folder and he is
then cp * ../
don't
work
cp * ~/
don't work either
and yeah of curse he can't even type corectly what i'm asking him to
I wasted about 1h30
and his problem is still not fixed because he can't copy a single command whitout mistakes
Sure he is my best friend but why does he have to be such an idiot
