Anybody else tired of what gamers call "enterainment" nowadays?

It's always about people who play games for you, who most of the time play them completely wrong. When it's not a live "show", it's about those videos where some random person tells you a bunch of stuff they found on Wikipedia like the Did you know gaming videos.

The only decent thing left are stream marathons, but I only know about AGDQ and Desert Bus that aren't just very boring. Maybe competitive matches too, if the esport community weren't so cancerous, usually made by the people who criticise real sports in the first place.

Whatever happened to making videos about games that weren't just a money grab? Why does everyone need Sony Vegas to make shitty videos all of the sudden? How can such a boring phenomenon as let's plays have gotten such a huge following?

Well let's plays are like sporting events.
You want to go see that Blue Jays game? You'll have to buy tickets and support them.
Just like YouTube let's plays. You're technically paying them by YouTube playing an ad before the video and if they have midroll ads in the video also.
Unless you have adblock, then it's a free ticket to watch the let's plays.
EDIT: Let's plays are like sporting events because you watch the person playing the game also.

Is the entertainment not actually playing the game?

Maybe it's just me however watching someone stream a game has never been interesting, neither has watching YouTube videos of people playing games. Then again i'm not someone who has any interest in watching people kick a football about for 90 mins.

If i'm really stuck on a game i might try find someone who's done a walk-though on YouTube to help with that bit, however i'd sooner play the game myself.

For me anyway the only gaming type videos that might interest me are random videos showing things that shouldn't be possible, like driving up the agency tower on Crackdown:

You might as well be asking why people watch sitcoms, dramas, comedies, movies, sports. It's entertaining. Youtube has a lot of retarded content, like the unboxing phenomenon. But people can watch what they want to watch.

If you're tired of it, then you're an idiot. No one is forcing the content onto you. If someone is strapping you to a chair and taping your eyes open to watch Lets Plays, you have much bigger issues to worry about.

I used to watch more singleplayer Lets Plays from a very, very tiny list of people. But in general they just get boring. Multiplayer games however, are almost always entertaining to watch. Now just because I don't watch singleplayer games anymore doesn't mean i'm tired of people uploading that content or supporting it. Why would I be? I just don't watch it.

I used to share the same ignorant opinion that since I didn't like it, people shouldn't make it. But then I grew up I guess. I actually completely randomly came across a good LPer or two and it actually ended up introducing me to some pretty fantastic content creators. I always just assume shit like this thread is made by people who find a lot of 5 view videos of some 10 year old recording his tv with his phone, because that's all I thought LPs were until I found actual good creators. They're very, very rare but they do exist.

It's the last time I'm going to bother replying to you. Yes, society is forcing this kind of "Entertainment" to me since everyone is doing this and the real enterainment is long gone.

Otherwise, i watch reviews, unboxing and random gameplays when i'm bored.

I watch unboxings, keep up with the latest tech. There are some youtube personalities I admire, like Linus Sebastian or James Rolfe.

I used to watch let's plays before I could afford to actually buy my games or a decent computer. Most games I'm interested in though, I tend to ignore let's plays or advertising before I have a chance to play it. I'm particularly interested in Hellblade, but I want to avoid all of the dev chat, advertising and such.

Personally I miss gaming media that actually either focused on gaming culture or used a game completely. Shows like Code Monkeys and Red vs Blue are the kind of gaming media that really wish would come back into style.

I watch stuff like Game Theory because I'm a massive nerd when it comes to science and data, but I'd love entertaining gameshow style internet shows that actually require skill.
