PS1/2 Free MCboot Backup??

i bought PS2 memory card with freeMCboot on it. It contains 4 files:
APPS Folder, SYS-CONF, Free McBoot, BOOT Folder.... and my save game files

I was thinking... He told me (never delete those or your ps2 would not be modded anymore and you cant play backups anymore!) So i was thinking.... can i Backup Memory Card content (with Free McBoot files ofc) to a USB flash drive (i got 8GB one) to save them on a CD or my PC HDD if something goes wrong or i delete it by accident?
That should in theory work, I know for sure there's a PS2 program to copy FMCB onto another memoryx card.

Well how it is done in the first place?

Normally with an already modded ps2, or messing around with a swap method.

Considering you bought a card with fmcb already on it, I assume you don't have access to a method to use unlaunchelf other than fmcb or you would have just installed it yourself in the first place. Much safer/easier to just make a second fmcb memory card as your backup.

I see... Yeah, i bought a card from a guy that does that, a card and FMB on it. My PS2 slim is a virgin.
Yup, i can only access uLaunchELF with card in it.

Yep. You can install it on another one.
Well..if i can copy card content to another card, why can't i copy the same content on USB flash drive? If that makes sense...
Edit: But than again...i couldnt be able to install that backup am i...

Because you have nothing to copy it back with.

If you have no other way to to launch ulaunchelf, and you lose the fmcb card, then you will have a usb stick with the files on and nothing else. No way to copy it back and no way to create a new fmcb memory card.

There's no need to back up the files anyway.

If you can run ulaunchelf, then you can just run the fmcb installer again and just create as many cards as you want.

I'm not sure if just copying across will work, I normally just create new using the installer (doesn't take long and is just as easy).

Download.

Put files on usb. Put memory card you want to have fmcb installed on in slot 1 (put your current fmcb in slot 2). Boot ulaunchelf, use filebrowser to go to usb and launch fmcbinstall.elf. Follow the on screen instructions. Simple as that.
