Official hakchi2 - NES Mini very simple pimp tool

I really hope so...I buyed this two controller from amazon, but they don't work neither in GUI neither in RA. However when i connect it RA reconize it. Official controller cost a lot and they are necessary for SNES games...=(

Get a Wii Classic controller, you can easily get them second hand for cheap.

Yeah, you are right. I thought I say that explicitly since all 3rd party controllers don't seem to work. Maybe something to do with the Wii protocol or maybe something is wired differently in the plugs of those controllers and extension cables.

In Spain forum some people said that PDP WiiU Fight Controller also works on RA.

EDIT : It says on the website of PDP that this controller is officially licensed by Nintendo.

I got that one from eBay.

I originally had for one for free from Club Nintendo as it was something that was available in Europe and Japan but sold it ages ago as I didn't think I'd ever need it again. The one from eBay cost me just over £40 but I was going to need to get a SNES controller at some point and I knew how good this was and the alternatives weren't that different in terms of cost and they're also not made by Nintendo, which this is.

I sold the original controller for a hell of a lot more than paid for this one so although the first one was free, it's sort of paid for the second one.

It's a wonderful controller and I can't recommend it enough to people if you can get them for a good price. It also has a slightly longer lead than the official NES version but I still use extension cables with both.

I do prefer the packaging on the Super Famicom Version though, not that it really matters.

Lucky. All the ones on ebay are over $80 (around 65 pounds)

I checked the seller as I'm always cautious on eBay and it turned up the day after buying and it really could pass as new as it was still in the sealed containers, they did tell me it had only been used once and that seems believable.

It was cheaper then other people were selling it and I think it may have helped that I made an offer for the price before the sale ended and nobody had bid on it yet. They could have waited and got more but there was no guarantee that anybody would have bought it, it was a choice of taking a lower but guaranteed offer or risking getting a bit more and maybe ending up with nothing.

I did consider getting one of the 8Bitdo controller but I didn't really want a wireless controller as it just feels more genuine when it's wired and I'd used one of these before so it was what I really wanted to get. It's hardly cheap for a controller but the alternatives wouldn't have really been any cheaper for me.

Yeah that controller looks very nice. I also have two NES Mini's for the same purpose as you. But I have two Wii Classic Controllers for my SNES version and the other two controllers that came with the Mini's for the 8 bit one. I have to admit though, to see an original SNES controller in combination with a NES mini looks pretty sweet. But damn, pricey! You are probably looking for another one right? Can't stop now, you are almost there

Yea 8Bitdo controllers are not really cheap. Though I had gotten them on a sale so it was not too bad. The only thing I did like was the quality, it feels quite authentic and has good weight to them. Though I have tested it with the wireless classic edition and does in fact not work the same as official ones. I read up on RetroArch sites, it states that drivers need to be added to the build. Though I am not familiar with how this RA version is setup I can't figure out how to get it to look up. Hackchi 2.12 hopefully will help out on this, I might just get some official ones if it can't be done.

I didn't know there was a Wii Super Nintendo controller...only knew about the Wii Super Famicom Version. Is the SNES version you have also first-party? What's the story behind it? I always thought the Wii SFC controller was a EU/Japan exclusive, so when/where did the Super Nintendo version come from?

Same story as with Famicom controller but aimed for the Australian and EU market. I believe you could win or buy them with points through Club Nintendo, they are quite rare and will be even more rare since people are picking them up for their NES mini's. Curiious why the US market (what I am aware off) never got them.

I'm not looking for another at the moment, I think I've spent enough on this stuff for now. I do have one of the proper white Wii Classic Controllers and there is nothing at all wrong with that, it;s a great controller. I will keep an eye out for another SNES controller though but I wouldn't pay the price that most people are asking for.

When the NES Mini was released I was looking through all our old Wii controllers hoping to find the SNES Classic and then I remembered that I'd sold it because people were paying a lot for them and I didn't think that I'd ever use it again.

It was a limited edition thing that Nintendo Japan and Europe did as Club Nintendo gifts. It was simply a matter of trading in stars for whatever gift you wanted, I didn't do it often so they built up over time and all I still have from that is a Game & Watch which is still boxed and only used once and a Mario Galaxy soundtrack double CD.

The controllers weren't available for long and I'm not really sure why the USA didn't also get them but thought that maybe it was due to the differences between the American controllers and the controllers in the rest of the world. They'd have to essentially set up a second production run due to the differently coloured and shaped buttons on the US version. The rest of the world went with the yellow, red, green blue button combination on a grey background whereas the US version was purple of some reason. I was never actually keen on the purple look.

Thanks for all the info. This whole time I thought Nintendo only made the Wii Club Nintendo Controller with SFC branding. Your photos were my first glimpse at the SNES branded version.

I was finally able to compile the most recent source for 2.12rc3 thanks to a helpful poster on Github. So far I've tested SNES, Genesis, Gameboy/Color and Sega Master System successfully. I was unable to get Game Gear to load. This is amazing! Install the RA module and proceed to load files exactly as you would NES games! Gonna do some more testing but, so far so great. This release is going to be epic!

I tested in Star Fox first overclocking at 100MHz , after at default speed.

That's exactly what I have. I was unable to get it to work with RA though, NES itself it works great, but once I go into RA GUI, my "Y" button becomes "A" and "X" button becomes "B", same with L and R. I noticed this when I tried Super Punch out, and went to configuration button and noticed it would register only this. When I also edited how RA GUI would use the controller in settings to bind them all it set it up, but then nothing worked because it was all A's and B's. If you had same issue then it must be something in RA that is what I suspected.

From the video I think it was mixed up. It looks like the first part was Overclocked at 100MHz, and the 2nd half was not. At the point 6:21 in video it shows it was already set to 100MHz and it was then changed to Disabled (10MHz).

So I think the 100MHz is much smoother.
