Hey all, Haven't touched my 3ds in a while and I tried to go online on FE Fates today, and it requested and update. I'm using reinand, my emunand is 10.5.
Is there a way I can access the online features without updating? How so? And how complicated would that be?
If its too complicated or not possible, is it safe to just update via settings?
Thanks.

Just to be sure, you need to be in EmuNAND first, then use a game (or Soundhax) as an entrypoint to open Homebrew Launcher. Launch ctr-httpwn, exit to the home menu, then carry on.

To be honest, you might be better off changing CFWs (Luma3DS can be used as a drop-in replacement for ReiNAND) and updating. Takes less than 10 minutes.

Oh, as long as I don't need to go through setting up Emunand again I'll totally do that. Do I just search for the luma3ds files and drop it into my sdcard?
I assume opening the hbl from the home screen is also okay? I have it as an app

And I tried that, after installing CTR HTTPWN it sends me back to the hbl but from there running Reinand crushes.

CTR-HTTPwn isn't "installed", per se. It's just a patch on in-RAM content that disappears when the console is rebooted. But yes, when you go back to HBL, you're supposed to press X to return to the Home Menu. Homebrew Loader is fine, too, so long as you're going back to a Home menu and not using, say, menuhax.

How do you have your 3DS boot setup?

Do you use menuhax to boot straight to ReiNAND? If so, simply replace the arm9loaderhax.bin file on your SD card root. Luma3DS will go through one config screen and then send you on your way.

Yeah I used Menuhax. But I tried switching my boot.3dsx file with the newest one from the starter kit, and that somehow broke that. Now I'm going straight to the hbl on boot?

Oh, apologies. I stuffed up.

You're not looking for the boot.3dsx file in the starter kit. You want the luma3ds zip, with arm9loaderhax.bin placed in the root, and the boot.3dsx file inside the "menuhax" folder placed on the root.
