Hardware Nintendo Switch vs PS5 vs Xbox Two (Scorpio)

Which console do you guys think will sell the most?

PS4 Pro came out recently and so did Xbox One S so the PS5 probably wont be out until as early as Late 2018 or Early 2019 at the very earliest, this means this will be the first console generation where a console gets roughly a 2 year lead/advantage

Nintendo Switch 2017, PS5 Late 2018 - 2019 , Scorpio Late 2018 - 2019 (2020 would be too late to compete, 3 year gap)

Which system will win this console generation, mind you if PS5 and Scorpio are not mentioned at E3 then that means that Switch gets a 2 year advantage, very nice

I think its unfair to put Switch up against future consoles. It's clearly something different.

It's essentially a handheld that can be docked.

What makes you think the PS5 will be out in only two years? Sony JUST released the PS4 Pro, anything sooner and they will end up pulling a Sega and committing suicide. Same for Xbox. The Switch will be the only truly new console.

Besides, honestly what can the PS5 and Xbox Scrorpio 2 bring to the table? Unless you're going 4K the graphical improvements are going to be pretty minimal, while you can play the Switch on the toilet.

I think PS5 will be Holiday 2019. Tech hasn't advanced enough for an upgrade to be worth it.
Xbox will gain some lost ground but PS4 is huge. They won't be able to make it up.
Scorpio initially will be a bit higher in price point. At least the same as PS4 Pro, maybe more. And more powerful than the Pro for sure. It'll sell well if price the same as the Pro, not so much if priced higher than that.
Sony has said Pro is meeting sales targets but that's vague and doesn't mean anything. They have not had problems *cough, Nintendo, cough* keeping the Pro in stock, and also the PS4 Slim which is fairly new also, but you can't read into that so much.
PS4 holiday sales were MASSIVE, 6 million sold. Like original Wii levels of sales we're talking. It may be the highest selling console ever 3 years into its lifecycle. It probably won't make it because it's still too expensive, but it's on pace to pass PS2, the current best selling console of all time. Like PS3, PS2 had a super long lifecycle though. PS4 sales won't survive for too much longer, I think. Microsoft doesn't say how many consoles sold Holiday 2016; industry analysts think the number is significantly less than Sony's. If Scorpio sells, Microsoft might start publishing their numbers again.

I think Microsoft will end up the winner. Those who own PS4 and not Xbox, which is a lot of people, who want a more powerful machine will get Scorpios, that's how it will happen. Scorpios will drop in price over time, it won't happen on Scorpio launch day I don't think. Scorpio will spend a lot of time as the most powerful console and the installed base will grow over this period. Microsoft has gotten more customer friendly this gen, that can only help them going forward.

You don't spend a lot of time on the toilet. I don't know, maybe you do. But I don't think that's most people.

Microsoft's reasoning for the Xbox One name is that you only need ONE system for everything, DVDs, Movies, Streaming and Games. In that sense, Xbox Two would imply that you need two systems for everything, which would be a downgrade. It will either have a completely new name or a suffix to Xbone.

I think most PS4 players won't bother upgrading to Pro. PC or PS4 + Switch is all a person needs.

I have two boys, when I lived in Nebraska and owned a big tractor drive snow blower I would take care of half my block just to get some peace and quite. If I had a Switch I would have much preferred to hide out in the bathroom.

I'm fine with playstation 5, but i have no faith in xbox, that name alone sounds bad. I would have been happy with xbox 720 even if it meant jokes, but least is not confusing like xbox one. Too bad the nintendo 64 couldn't have just stayed with the original idea of ultra Nintendo. Then game cube could be HYPER nintendo, then revolution. I still wish i know what a vita is, cause the psvita doesn't make much sense. Sorry for the girls out there who didn't get a Game girl.

Still i dunno if nintendo is competing for "Console" priority at the moment with the nintendo switch especially if they strictly emphasize mobile portability. But it is $300 so i guess?

I recall the N64 being Ultra 64 rather than Ultra Nintendo.

Well yeah, in the nintendo power magizene it was advertized as that ultra 64, and that one killer instinct arcade machine or was it commercial.... Anyway i just didn't want the 64 in the name. Just like the turbo graphix 16, they did not have to have numbers like that, where the only purpose was to display the consoles 64 Bit processing power. It just didn't seem like it was needed, but was done for marketing purposes. I guess most of the names for the systems is for marketing but sony displayed no attempted to market the console based on name which is great on their part, shows confidence a plenty.

To me names are important. It clearly explains what the thing is. Nintendo is the nintendo entertainment system, SUPER nintendo entertainment system, i it had been ULTRA nintendo entertainment system, is fine, the sucessor to snes. But Ultra 64? Ummm okay. Well they changed it to Nintendo 64 and then what happened? Super mario 64, Mario kart 64, Doom 64, duke nukem 64. Bunch of games with the same boring name showed up, no one put effort into getting a better name.

Same thing with NDS and 3DS. Lots of games were like 3DS at the name, or just 3D. Rayman 3D, and if mega man legends had game out. Legends 3DS. Sometimes it maybe used the 3DS as trying to say is the third game in the series. I had hard time trying not to think Kingdom hearts DREAM DROP DISTANCES being on 3DS wasn't about it having DDD being a joke of just saying 3DS or 3rd game in the series until KH3 was announced.

I am already in a bad spot with people confusing names and even community gamers using acronyms and shortened letters and nicknames for stuff i dunno about. Seeing people here say pokemon SUMO i don't know what they were referring to. A sumo wrestling game with pokemon in it? No, they mean sun and moon? Why can't you just call it that, you wanna confuse people and have to waste time explaining this to them or avoid it by just being clear the first time is addressed?
