As the day of the Nintendo Switch conference and hands-on impressions draws to a close and the beans have been thoroughly spilled, we want to ask you - what do you think?

What are your impressions on the overall unveiling of the Switch given the pricing, games and hardware capabilities? Will you be Switching? Perhaps you've already pre-ordered one.

Vote in the poll and let us know! And be sure to share your comments in the thread below.

Correction, Hardcore gaming is limited to PC, console gaming is the middle ground between mobile gaming and PC gaming, neither hardcore nor casual.
"Hardcore gaming" itself is a meme. It's a word that makes peecee players help themselves think they are superior to everyone else.
Why won't you guys just play a good video game for a change? Mother is AIDS. ;O;

There's no such thing as a hardcore gamer. Similarly, there are people who watch movies as a hobby and those that occasionally see one on TV to kill time - that doesn't make them "casual cinema snobs", that's some weird oxymoron. There are simply gamers, with various platforms of choice, who love to game, and non-gamers that play Angry Birds during their daily commute because 45 minutes is a long stretch of time if all you're doing is staring at the seat in front of you.
Right you are, I tend to interpret hardcore as more involved in depth and/or difficult games, because that seems to be what people mean when they say hardcore.

I voted that I have pre-ordered it. I haven't though.

But I will! And I'll order it from the UK since that will save me 224 US dollars.
The accessory prices are utter bullshit. Luckily I don't think I'll need any of those (will the wrist strap thingy be included?).
The game prices feels like game prices usually do, at least to what I'm used to. 70-80 bucks for one game wasn't uncommon back in the days of N64 and Gamecube.
And since I don't play THAT much, the higher price point doesn't bother me too much if it's something I'll enjoy a lot.

Yeah.

Yeah.
It is hard to tell for sure, but I just can't imagine playing certain games without a real d pad and the joycons have some funky button like d pad that doesn't look appealing to me. For most games using the analogue sticks I am sure will be fine, but considering they are getting blazblu and a Street Fighter game I just can't imagine playing a fighting game without a real d pad. Which stinks because that d pad cost $70.

Maybe some companies will make their own Joycon models with proper D-pads?

That's a fair point. I'm not interested at all in fighters (apart from an occasional game of Smash, or is that considered a brawler?), so I didn't think of that. I've not used a d-pad as a directional tool for any recent game, it's always just "d-pad up for arrows, d-pad left for gun, d-pad right for shotgun" or something along those lines.

But yeah, it feels a bit weird that it won't have a proper d-pad. If not for fighting games or Virtual Console, for the sake of nostalgia :P

I preordered the r/b joycon ver. but I'm not terribly happy about it. There's only a couple launch titles, which consists of past games, that I kinda want? Never got to play disgaea 5, but now it comes with DLC. Also never bought the MK8 DLC so I can trade in my wiiu version, and get deluxe. But aparently more launch titles have yet to be announced, so I guess we'll see : P
I will agree though. ALMOST ALL THE ACCESSORY PRICES SUCK. Luckily I was able to secure the zelda special carrying case, so that'll probably be good enough.

All the HD Joycon tech. seems like it'd be great for VR, so kinda excited for that, too.

I just realised something.
Days before the Switch presentation, I made a Joycon a purchasable weapon on this shitty Discord RPG bot that's in a server I admin, it ended up being $171.

I think I cursed it guys. I think I'm the reason why the Switch and it's accessories ended up being more expensive than they needed to be.

Dont see what the deal about the price is, im impressed but will most likely not pick it up at launch. I'm satisfied with my wii u and my pc.

cant preorder but ill pick it up launch day or first few days for sure
If the Switch is popular that may not work. Nintendo is only shipping 5 million units on release day that includes pre-orders. IGN said the USA is only getting 2 million. Not sure how the other regions are broken down.
If all the pre-orders sell out it could be the NES Classic all over again. Granted with only 5 release day games most of the people doing the pre-orders must be wanting Zelda. Think I will stick with the Wii U version unless
Nintendo gets more specific about things like the Virtual Console. Almost had a stroke when I saw the Accessory prices.

Why such a low amount of units? Don't they want this to sell?

paid online, 2 hour battery, over priced accessories the fucking thing will be nearly $500 to buy here and the pro controller $100! nintendo have INDEED lost the plot!

Last edited by Bladexdsl,
Pricing -> it's depend,like I always think,a game shouldn't be payed 60-70$... Will see....

Considering having it.... Well........... Payed online.... I think it's my answer for now (will probably buy it but I will always be disapointed :().

Hardware -> welp I just want to know what's the ARM processor type of it to get my hand on the ASM. Otherwise,I don't check a console pwer generally,mostly game type and other.
You're Canadian, correct? if so then until our dollar doesn't suck compared to the USD, AAA games will always be $70-80.

The Wii sold out and everyone went crazy for it. Same with the NES Classic. :P Maybe it turns out the quality of the console doesn't mean anything. All that matters is that you sell out and everyone freaks out over how rare and exclusive and cool it is. That's how you make $$$.
