Dont see what the deal about the price is, im impressed but will most likely not pick it up at launch. I'm satisfied with my wii u and my pc.
I think the price is a little high but thing the complaints are about the whole price of entry. $70 for a Pro Controller, if you want another set of joycons with the dock it is $110. A lot of the games shown to be coming from 3rd parties are from 2014 or earlier. And some of the launch games aren't actually full large studio $60 games but games like I am Setsuna which is from a smaller studio and sales for $40. And Nintendo still is silent on the Virtual Console and they want us to pay for online play but don't have any of the popular games announced that people typically pay for online play for like Battlefield, Overwatch, Call of Duty etc. And don't give you free games to keep as long as you are subscribed. In other words Nintendo isn't keeping up with industry standards even when they try to make one step forwards they make 2 steps back .

The Wii sold out and everyone went crazy for it. Same with the NES Classic. :P Maybe it turns out the quality of the console doesn't mean anything. All that matters is that you sell out and everyone freaks out over how rare and exclusive and cool in is. That's how you make $$$.
To follow up, this also makes it so if you were considering a purchase, and you saw it in stock, you would want to buy knowing that it's a rare item.

The console price itself is fine, i personally think paid online will pay off in the long run.

I do have some concerns, though, many are likely unsubstantiated; one the 32 GB storage, expanding that will be costly since Nintendo stupidly refuses to support USB HDDs, which I remind people, are only a fraction of the cost of micro SD cards. A 512 GB SD card is ridiculously expensive and several times more than a HDD the same size. Will this not be an issue?

I am having a hard time getting over paid online. I don't care if they offer half decent online this time. It's insulting to pay for it, and it's sad that we are desensitized to crap like this that people are letting it slide... again. It is half of the reason I will buy a Switch used a year or so after release.

The Switch is supposed to be a hybrid though, so supporting USB HDDs wouldn't make very much sense since you wouldn't be able to take those with you when you undock it.

xb1 and ps4 have it too, nobody complains about that. Besides, nobody is making you buy online.

The Dock still doesn't have an ethernet port either, which should be unacceptable for a home console that's advertising itself as having a serious, paid online service.

There will be a usb to ethernet accessory for Switch I have no doubt. It is too much to expect the wii usb to ethernet adapter to function as well on switch. Remember the Switch is cutting edge.

Well PS4, Xbox One have Battlefield, Overwatch, Call of Duty, Final Fantasy XIV and on and on and on and you get free games "TO KEEP" as long as you have the subscription so there is a difference. Even EA isn't completely selling out for Switch as they said a FIFA is coming to Switch but didn't even get it a number so it could be like typical Nintendo third party one FIFA game now and not another one or one again in a few years, doesn't look like they are going to be doing it yearly. Also you would think Switch would be a huge chance for multimedia playback with Netflix, Youtube etc but not a single word from Nintendo about any sort of multimedia playback. Nintendo not once has done online right so that is why people are worried about paying for it. Also all the online stuff is going to be done via smart device, it sounds like possibly even voice chat so that doesn't sound like a great thing to pay a monthly fee for when I have to own another device to make "Their online service" WORK.

As a PC Gamer I could never imagine paying to play online.
Nintendo wants to join Sony/Microsoft in charging for online play.
They make very good single player games so I don't know how much it really matters but they are also basically selling a locked down gaming tablet for way too much.

In summary,
The hardware is weak.
The price is high.
You will pay to play/watch online content.
Not worth it at all.
Like most Nintendo platforms it will only have 1-10 good Mario/Zelda/Pokemon games and the rest are not really worth playing.
They will be charging $60+ for these good games even though they are low poly/low res compared to a game you would regularly buy for that price.

Only flop IMO is paid online.
Launch titles honestly aren't solid to me either, but I don't mind waiting a bit for some better games.

But its a hybrid.....
The point is, it's your own choice
And im sure people wouldn't mind staying docked to play all of there games, but storing their most favorites on the console memory for play on the go

AFAIK, @shaunj66 confirmed an MSD slot on the tablet itself. So, USB HDDs don't seem so far fetched for at home and the MSD (?) for portable gaming.

As a PC Gamer I could never imagine paying to play online. This is relatively annoying. Pay to play isn't a new concept. Not even looking at XBL. Subscription based MMOs. Hell, SEGA had a device where you paid to play select games over a connection. Not a proper example, but still.

Nintendo wants to join Sony/Microsoft in charging for online play. It's money. Nintendo can only float for so long.
They make very good single player games so I don't know how much it really matters but they are also basically selling a locked down gaming tablet for way too much. Definitely not "locked down". Not even sure where you're going with this.

In summary,
The hardware is weak. Subjective.
The price is high. Arguable. It depends on how you want to go about it.
You will pay to play/watch online content. If it's anything like Sony and Xbox, you'll be paying to play. I don't think you need Gold or PSN+ for Netflix and the like.
Not worth it at all. Again, subjective.
Like most Nintendo platforms it will only have 1-10 good Mario/Zelda/Pokemon games and the rest are not really worth playing. Read above.
They will be charging $60+ for these good games even though they are low poly/low res compared to a game you would regularly buy for that price. Quality over quantity. Nintendo is more known for the quality of their AAA titles. Graphics shouldn't be an argument. If it is, your standards are to blame.

Switch owners=peasants.Enjoy paying to play online and get scammed out of your money while steam gamers play online for free.

The only factor that will make me buy this console would be the release of Monster Hunter and/or Metroid. Insta-buy for me when either or both of those games gets released. I just hope I won't have to wait that long.

Also, why didn't they opt for a removable battery? They could easily sell those like pancakes. Imagine an official Nintendo Battery pack. hehe

Nice constructive argument defending your shallow, subjective views on why the Switch is something you don't like.
