What's the purpose of this?
Usually you cannot use PS4 Remote Play unless you properly connect to PSN.
However, setting the registry value shown in the video seems to bypass this, and you should just be able to access remote play as normal, without needing to connect to PSN first or anything.

tl;dr, it enables PS4 remote play on 3.60.

Ahh, i knew ps4 remote play required internet access to be used (didn't know if a local wifi router would work as the off tv-play function)
So it requiring to connect to the PSN was a drawback sony set?

What about ps3 remote play (with the titles that support it)?
Sadly I don't have any ps4 that would make this useful for me :P

I can't quite tell if you can use the vita as a ds3/ds4 controller officially or with homebrew or how does the ps3 remote play works.
Got a vita on NewYearsEve and haven't hacked it due to only having mobile access to the internet (enough to have henkaku but not download stuff on it like retroarch, etc)
Thanks for your reply.

Can you use this method for ps3 remote play?
PS3 Remote Play does not require connecting to PSN if you are streaming over a local connection, so it is not neccessary.

The registry value you needed to change was only specifically for PS4 Remote Play anyway...

Is there a way not to use the Vita update bloker and the DNS method that it's showing here?
It's because I do not have a PC but a Mac

can you uncheck the "Connect Directly with PS Vita/PS TV" under Remoteplay Connection Settings? While checking the video, it seems you only connected locally via ps4 (not via wifi)
I think that options needs to be changed on the ps4, if you want direct wifi connection, it creates a access point (like a router) for it to connect to, both ps3 and ps4 do this. But you can disable it. It will use the router network connection is connected to instead.

that option enables remoteplay directly to vita, if you want to connect to wifi without interferring with the local connection yiu can disable that, my point is the video only shows connecting directly to ps4, and he is not logged in to psn as what is the requirement for wifi remoteplay, you need to connect to psn
