Well it's pretty useful if you want to install Arm9LoaderHax.
You can install A9LH with it.
A9LH let's you run code on boot, including custom firmwares, which allow you to do shit like signature patches, region free, etc. They also let you run programs like Hourglass9 which allows you to unbrick your 3ds by restoring a backup of the 3DS NAND (internal storage)

No it doesn't. It helps installing A9LH which you already mentioned. A9LH helps you boot programs which can unbrick your console.

No it can be useful if you get a hardbrick.
It isn't 100% needed for unbricking with hardmod but it helps. That was why otpless was allowed

So it's a hardbrick (Sometimes, a 'brick' brick). Call it that.
More commonly known as a gateway brick. (Gateway isn't the only way it happens though)

I was going to say that wasn't the case, but I remembered, you are correct. The error is given by the bootloader because it can't read the NAND.
A hardbrick won't happen from playing games lol
And the OTP doesn't unbrick shit xD

I honestly have no clue whatsoever. It rarely ever happens, but it tend to happen when you update your SysNAND within Gateway mode.

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better. -
