What is the prime size microsd card for the new3ds xl? What do most users here use? I've heard that you can get as big as 128gb but I also heard that it would read slower the bigger it gets, so is it best to use 32gb or 16gb? would 16gb be faster than 32gb because it's smaller? You can put all the ds backups in the microsd as long as it has the space to fit in right?

I'm pretty sure a 32Gb and a 16Gb card would have the same performance. I believe the slowdown happens when you go above 32Gb (as the FAT32 filesystem has performance issues on partitions over that size)

64gb. 128gb is overkill, I filled my 32gb and had to get 64gb. It's perfect

I actually got me a 128 gb, because it was a bit over 30. Good enough for me, so i don't have to ever worry about space. I tend to like having my group of games with me for co-op stuff but I filled up 2 plastic cases of games :( those are annoying to carry....and games like MGS3 are pretty big.

Just be sure to buy your SD cards from official sellers. I got scammed before trying to save 10 bucks. Remember, 17 dollars for 128 gb card can't be real Dx

The only issue with the 128gb I've noticed is the 99gb title installer issue. Also once you fill the home screen you need to add emunand to add more games unless there's a folder fix I'm not aware of

Yea i forgot to mention that downside. Though luckily i already had enough normal e-shop games to not have worried about that, like MM3DS and such. I never used emunand so im not sure how it goes with that. ;_;

How about sandisk ultra plus 64gb microsdhc class 10 uhs-1 memory card? is that over 1m read/write?

It should be. I can't find my package right now, though (want to redeem that 'photo magic' program.)

I think it's something to do with 'Pixtor'. Also has good r/w speed, but if you don't FTP, the adapter is pretty garabage compared to Samsung EVO+.

Definitely not gonna get 128gb, if I had to choose 16gb and 32gb, I'd go for 32gb, but I am more leaning towards 64gb, what about the 2nd post of this thread where the user says that anything over 32gb is where the slowdown occurs?

If the card is high-class, the slowdown is negligible; you could blink and wouldn't know the difference.

Go with the 64gb. You never get the full size on any card i.e. a 32gb is 30-28gb. If you use emunand, without fshop, you'll be out of space with a few good games.

But if if you only play five games, you'll be fine.

Slow downs are not as drastic as it sounds, you probably won't even notice a significant difference. I use my 64gb with half of the mem. used on my 3DS regularly and it still loads pretty damn fast. Get a 64gb it is totally worth it.

You won't notice slow downs. They are there, but its minuscule.
Plus when determining speed, a 64gb SD can outpace a 32gb if the 32 is class 4 and 64 is class 10. Class (number with circle around it) determines SD speed

Ok I am about to buy a 64gb but I encountered a problem, I am looking at the Walmart site and found 2 versions of the exact same spec uhs-1 class 10 64gb sd card, the difference is that one is called Mobile and the other one is called Imaging, other than that the spec is the same, which one should I choose for the 3ds?

I have the one with a camera on the packaging, I think they would work the same for this purpose. If you're buying online just make sure its sold by Walmart.com
