I attempted a hardmod following the video posted here:

When I put my 3DS back together, before even getting to connect it to my PC I tried to turn on the console to no effect. Pressing the power button didn't do anything, connecting it to a power source does nothing as well, not even LEDs light up. There is no pop sound, no flashes of the screen and the LEDs do not turn on at all. I removed the hardmod and tried to see if maybe it was messing with the console somehow, again to no effect.

Any ideas on what to do next? The board looks fairly clean, with no solder splashes that I can observe. There may be a small bridge that is sitting in the area of the CLK, connecting some of the four dots, could this be an issue?

I tried taking the board out and putting it back in three times to make sure the ribbon cables are connected properly, and it seems that they are. Should I re-check? I doubt one could be upside down but I am unsure.

Lastly, I don't know if I connected the battery upside down when I tried to boot for the first time, I don't think I did but I can't be sure.

Should I buy a new board? Any ideas on what to try next before I throw this console out of a 5 story window?

That's because you're using yakara's tutorials dood.

Also, it may be because you turned it on BEFORE proceeding like Yakara did? I haven't watched the video, maybe it's that. Contact him on twitter
Also congrats on the possible brick

I'd try the 3DSHacking Discord there is a section on hardware, someone may be able to tell you what has happened and/or if it is fixable or not :)

please don't tell me you've tried to solder 8 wires just for a single downgrade? this video guide is idiotic, all you need is 4 wires, the other 4 will just increase speed while downgrading but the risk of fkn up the hard mod are so much higher with soldering those 8 wires, i only use 4 and i get 5.8mb a second if that's not fast enough you have some issues :s, all you needed was, clk, cmd, gnd and dat0. nothing more. also there is a clk on the other side of the board which is 10x easyer to solder to. this guide is really bad...

this is how you should have done it:

the usb port is not needed, but those 4 spots were all you needed

Yakara mentions that you only need 4. He says the rest are optional and only improve read/write speed.

Nvm, just watched that part again and he says he usually has trouble reading the NAND when he only uses 4 points. Yeah, that's bs.

I only mounted the four wires needed. I initially mounted the GND where he had it but it would not hold, and after four attempts to solder it where he had it I just stuck it to the outside casing of the cartridge slot (metal). Would mounting the wires even matter though? I never even got to the next step, my DS just stopped working after I took the wires off.

Edit: I also want to mention that I tried to mount the CLK on the back of the board, where the four little pins are located and failed that a few times, so I had to re-mount on the alternate CLK, on the front. Could damage to the CLK points cause the unit not to turn on at all, including not having any LEDs work?

iirc if you put the battery in backwards it blows the board, not 100% sure but I seem to remember someone else did that and their board was dead even after replacing fuses

EDIT: nvm I see someone dug up another thread on this and it was just the fuse on the daughter board :) good luck
