Oh but Xeonblade chronicles wii u editon is a special case thought, it's the only vwii game that works on REDNAND and its the only one with game pad support, Im guess they didn't use PAL or NTSC and just used the modern digital system on it, you should try it another game that's not such a special case like this

Wish I could test my other out of region Wii VC games, but they require a controller to launch. My wiimote is dead and my charger is in my box. At the same time, I have no plans to play Wii games in a long time. I hate the wiimote's battery

Has anyone tried out of region Wii VC games? Wouldn't that boot into vWii which isn't region free?

I have tried Super Mario Galaxy/Kirby return to dreamland both ntsc versions on my euro wiiu and they both play perfectly.

following your guide I was able to mod my Wii U region free - Now I'm having problems loading vWii - Whenever I try to load vWii my Wii U freezes then crashes showing me that my vWii is broken and I should either refer to the manual or contact Nintendo for help. Not sure if this is related to making my WiiU region free, besides there's nothing else I did modify within the system itself which could have broke any system related files.

Just in case this seems relevant. Seems for some people this worked, as the stated, they have already played region free vWii games in rednand with this method.

in sysconfig tool you can enable other console regions, couldn't you just like check all 6? Or would that break something?

I am wondering..How much easier would it be for nintendo to ban people using regionfree hack compared to simply going vanilla brazilian?
I mean, they should be able to easily detect the all mighty region code right?
Thats the only thing that worries me.

i'm a bit concerned about that... but considering nintendo could check a whole lot of stuff and don't seem to bother.... don't quite know....


They recently got the ban hammer out on the 3ds users who played Pokemon sun/moon online..... so who knows ....I think they've given up on the wii u. Only Zelda is left and that looks like it will come out august 2017.... not march

So, I tried this with a japanese disc of Paper Mario: Color Splash and the game doesn't start.
Any ideas why it doesn't work?

My sys config tool shows all regions so I probably didn't fail at installing this.

US version needs modification for EU/JPN consoles on Loadiine. Cross-region compatibility issues on Loadiine are likely problematic for RegionHax as well.

If you install to USB you might be able to modify cos.xml but I'm not sure why you would go to the trouble. The same region files for your console already exist.

Do you mean for discs or for backup loading? Because if you're loading backups, I'm pretty sure the majority of vWii backup loaders are region free.
