Hacking other firmware for R4i SDHC 3ds RTS?

Hi are there other firmwares I could use for R4i SDHC 3ds RTS (red box)

And perhaps if it does a good tutorial to follow along as I am new to all of this.
I will be using it on a DS lite and Phat DS if that helps.
Reason for wanting another firmware is that I think it is really slow with the one I downloaded from their site r4i-sdhc.com (that I found on the red box) I do have the latest version. But perhaps it won't get smoother than that? Like I said I am new to this. TIA

You can use this and dual boot it alongside the kernel that came with your cart. Scroll down until you see a spoiler labeled "R4i-SDHC" That contains the instructions. Download is just a bit below that.

Is there a way to make it boot first like that or nay? Because I do have a 32GB card and as you
can imagine many *.nds on it.

As far as I know there isn't a way as of now. I've tested it back then as a primary kernel for my cart but it ended up being stuck in a bootloop.
