Keep in mind, in the video, the girl playing the 3D Mario game brings it over to her friends' rooftop party where she and one of her friends pick up a Joy-Con controller and both start playing. Point being, the implication is that this Mario game is multiplayer. As such, I'm inclined to think that this may be more in line with Super Mario 3D World. I'd love another 64/Galaxy game personally, but I've got a feeling this is not one of those kind of games, but we'll see.
Remember though that it doesn't show what they're playing or how it plays. For all we know they switched games

Well looking from what we have so far i could say it would have 3D land like levels but more 3Dish, so i'd say names that would describe that the new Mario game would be like that.
I think it's going to be similar to 3d world, but larger, possibly with a hub world (Similar to 64/Sunshine/Galaxy(1)) instead of a level select.

*sigh*

I just want another Mario 64 / Sunshine / Galaxy with open levels.
But I guess those cost too much to make or something?
I guess the future of Mario is settling with mediocre linear platformers because they make Ninty $$$.

I don't get how people think the game's linear out of available info in these screenshots alone.
It's not linear.
It'll be more open than any Mario game before. There's no hub world, this time, I think there's an actual overworld.

I'll let this video do the talking:

tl;dw the most important details:

- You can see points of interest outside in the temple level - you can see bits of an overworld, like a purple lake and mountains that aren't part of the level at all.
- A heart shaped collectible, indicating a power/health meter (no mini mario)
- You can see the temple level, in the distance, FROM the town, with a waypoint marker guiding you to it
- There are purple triangle collectibles in the town, NPCs you can talk to, and buildings to enter.
- "Crazy Cap", a possible equipment cap shop

So yeah, this game's not the linear type of Mario at all. It's a "new kind of Mario" as Miyamoto said it would be. I think they're going for an Action/Adventure platformer this time.

I definitely do not got a 3D World vibe from this. I almost fell out of my chair out of excitement when I saw the game.

Based on GX's analysis this game could have HUB worlds, talkable NPCs, health meter, etc. I don't mind of it's sort of linear similar to Galaxy or Galaxy 2, as long as it feels like a true 3D Mario...

3D World was definitely an okay game and I do like that it's visual style is being reused but in terms of gameplay it comes short of previous Mario adventures, or at least I think so.

But this looks very promising compared to 3D World and I am super excited for this game!

It looks okay. I was hoping for SMG3 or a more open world Mario game but this looks just like Super Mario 3D World 2. I enjoyed Super Mario 3D World, but I'd much rather have Super Mario Sunshine 2.

I think people are grasping at straws here. There are doors you can enter in Super Mario 3D Land/World as well, they're used as a puzzle element.
