If you installed a9lh with the otpless method (new 3ds only), did you brick your New 3ds?

There seems to be some controversy surrounding the new optless a9lh install method for the New 3ds. Let's get a more quantified assessment of how dangerous/awesome this method is so we can be better informed of the risk, or lack thereof.

I just love they think it wasn't tested before it went in the guide. It was tested before the release was even built.

Also add an extra 5 to the no brick. I've done it on 6 systems. 1 was used to test it before release and the other 5 were after its release.

Do you mean windows updates in general? were they just release them and hope for the best Lol.

No, I mean like how with Windows 10 they fired most of their QA department and now rely pretty much entirely on end users while with Windows 7 and even 8.x updates they actually did a fair bit of in house testing themselves. Those on the "insider" track are pre-alpha testers, regular home users are alpha, pro users and enterprise users are beta, and enterprise LTSB users are gamma/release level.

2 x N3DS with unSafeInstaller
3 x N3DS with SafeInstaller
no brick - all 5 otpless installations were successfully

How curious.
A month ago, the OTP method and CTR downgrade was necessary. This seems to be cleaner.
I tried it recently with a spare n3ds, and nothing's wrong at all.
Then again, i think the fact that you have access to your OTP and console keys would be helpful should anything happen, either user or software side, but this method isn't bad at all. The games work, the ds games work; the only thing i haven't tested is Freeshop, and i think that not having the keys to work in tandem with the enctitlekeys is not gonna make it work, but hey! Who knows? Maybe it will! :tpi:

Still, the previous method wasn't as bad at all. It was a clean and quick method to get the OTP, the keys and the downgrade, as long as you used the correct Decrypt9 AND the correct actions for those, as the guide suggested (hell, even the program had the safety routines automatized for you). The only risk was trying to put the n3DS in sleep mode while downgraded, and that would be a human mistake as well.

Quite a good addition to simplify the method, still, i think that it shoud be left to option to do OTP. Not gonna lose any sleep for not doing it, though.

Used otpless on 8 different n3ds. No bricks. Will use it again later today on 2 different consoles.

I'm going to wait a bit before I ditch my SD card dependency. Granted, I hate having such a delicate file on my SD card, but I have backups made, and will wait this out until the dust settles before I go A9LH v2.

Otp has nothing to do with freeshop
