Can we all agree that no one should use the OTPless install for now?

    When Safea9lhinstaller isn't actually safe.
this method is still too new to be included in the guide. it needs more testers. 2 3DSes already bricked now.

And it was due to bad SD cards, which the installer now checks for.
    I don't see any problem.

The very fact that thousands of noobs are being "tricked" to replace their kernel with something they have no idea of what it actually is, should shock you more, not how they actually do this...

Shortcuts always fuck you in the end. I wouldn't risk it. I know it's still brand-new, so, yeah, for now, I wouldn't even bother. Until it's been extensively tested, don't use OTP-less.

    Yet. :)

Wait for it to be clarified stable and noob-friendly until doing so. Take it at your own risk.

OTPless is already safer than 2.1 downgrade. So no, I don't agree.

I'd have to agree with mashers and The Real Jdbye. For the N3DS, the 2.1 downgrade was/is unsafe. The OTPless method, while not tested as thoroughly, should be/is much safer, especially since it now checks SD cards. I took the plunge early on when A9LH was new and the entire time I had an adrenaline rush as I knew at anytime while getting the 2.1 nand prepared, something could go wrong. Do I think that OTPless should be a part of the guide for N3DS, yes absolutely. Should the it be optional, maybe but that's if Plailect chooses to do so. On the complete flip side, at the very beginning of the guide there is a warning that modifying your console comes with risks unless you follow directions exactly as written. It may not be your fault that your console no longer works, but you were warned that this is a risky process.

2 whole 3DS systems out of how many thousands? Even if only 1000 people performed this, there's only a 0.2% probability of the 3DS bricking at all.

and also, compare that to the bricks we've had with the 2.1 downgrade, especially in the early days. if i didnt have a hardmod, i would have added a 2ds and 2 o3dsxl's to that. and those have less of a chance of brick compared to the n3ds.

    also, hardmods are great.

    Between insane and insecure
It seems the 2 bricks recorded were most likely human error and not at fault of the installer. There's no reason to worried, unless it become a greater problem.

I highly doubt there has been even close to 1000 people that have used this...

Ok, let's say 50 people used it then. That's still only a 4% chance...and besides those 2 bricks were caused by human error or faulty hardware, so that makes the probability a big, fat ZERO

I never saw anyone brick, user error or not, using the 2.1 CTR transfer. Just saying.

I used it and no problems at all. If you follow the guide correctly I doubt that you will brick the console.

The two people that bricked did nothing wrong at all.
