If you haven't done so already. Get yourself a 3ds and start hacking; the 3ds hacking scene has exploded while you were away.

Funny you should mention, I literally just posted something on the 3DS forum!

But I'm not big on hacking or know anything about it.

This is the guide that most people on gbatemp uses : https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki

This guide will also explain everything and keep you up to date of what has happened thus far.

Thanks!

Thanks, but I'm not sure I have the patience to do all that.

Why is the hacking even needed? Like I said, I know nothing about it.

Well, homebrew for starters and if you want to be a dirty pirate

The hacking is not "needed", but what has been released on the 3DS is pretty amazing. To sum things up, we have a boot exploit, we can run GBA (and soon DS/DSi) games natively, install *a lot* of emulators, pirate 3DS games directly from the console (even directly from the eShop!), change the console's region, backup the games' saves, stream the 3DS screens to a PC, use the 3DS as a PC controller (or a PC controller to control the 3DS), and much, much more :D

That sounds interesting and very tempting, but I'm still way too lazy to do these things, lol.

Also don't really want to risk anything.

Welcome back, sir!

Thank you!

Thank you!

That's why I gave you a guide and if you can follow instruction carefully then there should not be any problems.

oh, another 2002 user ! :p
Back in 2002 the forum was created for GBA ROM download and release news.
there's no more ROM or any illegal file sharing here, only homebrew/hacking release information and even official game reviews from big companies.

You don't "have" to be a pirate to read and post on GBAtemp, there are a lot of legit (non hacking related) information and topics you can participate in.

Welcome back here.
