Got ROM loading with button holding to work!
A rom can now be assigned to a button you hold (e.g. A.nds, B.nds, start.nds, select.nds) while starting the emulator. D-Pad directions won't work for some reason, but the buttons still work. If no button is held, it'll load default.nds.
ROMs go in "root:/DeSmuME/roms/".

Fixed the D-Pad problem, and now supports Circle Pad and C-Stick (New 3DS only) for ROM loading. So how many ROMs can we now load? 23 ROMs for N3DS, 17 for O3DS!

D-Pad Up = d_up.nds
D-Pad Down = d_down.nds
D-Pad Left = d_left.nds
D-Pad Right = d_right.nds

Circle Pad Up = cp_up.nds
Circle Pad Down = cp_down.nds
Circle Pad Left = cp_left.nds
Circle Pad Right = cp_right.nds

C-Stick Up = cs_up.nds
C-Stick Down = cs_down.nds
C-Stick Left = cs_left.nds
C-Stick Right = cs_right.nds

I haven't been following the thread very much anymore. Any updates on progress? :creep:
@shutterbug2000 is currently working on dynarec.

Question for the developers of this project: Is there a successful foreseeable end to this project? Do you think that at some point this will be a successful project that will be comparable to flash cards, or should one just pay $15.00 for a flash card rather than put their hopes in this project? Great work, by the way :)

Just pay the 15$
Right now this is at a POC stage.
If you just want piracy and commercial ROMs running just buy a flashcard.
Probably in months it will be at a playable state but as now the best bet is just buy a flashcard

If we're talking months, I'll wait. If we're talking two years, I'll buy a flash card.

Look I'm no dev I'm not sure but for a project like this to perfect itself to the point of running commercial ROMs it will take a good amount of time

Pretty clear you're no dev. And pretty clear you haven't been paying attention to this project either, as it already CAN run commercial roms (a pretty significant chunk of the library no less) just not at very good speeds. They are working on hardware based rendering which should improve this by leaps and bounds.

The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

    but that's a long shot

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
