I would go with this one. It is the R4i Gold and is officially supported by the Wood firmware which has RTS among other features. While the DSTWO is technically the best it will drain your battery like crazy in sleep mode due to the onboard CPU. As for resellers, apparently modchipsdirect.com is pretty reliable and ships from the USA. No paypal support though they do accept credit/debit* cards. I just ordered one from them myself early yesterday (thursday) morning and it is showing as Complete but it hasn't shipped yet.

*Assuming the debit card is a standard visa/mastercard/amex/discover one that also works as a credit card, of course.

That looks like the best cart for the price and Davidosky99 is right, DStwo was indeed the best of the best back in its time but with how advanced 3DS homebrew has become its just too packed unnessesary features that overinflate the price.

If they can take Debit/Credit cards and they are located in the US then I'll buy this second, thank you.

The biggest catch I can see is that chances are the RTS (save state) support might not be as good as the dstwo, but since it doesn't have the onboard CPU you won't have to be sure to remove it before putting the system into sleep mode. With the dstwo, it will drain your battery quickly even in sleep mode. And yes, it will still do that even if you are at the 3DS home screen when you put it to sleep.

If I know my best friend he really doesnt give a damn about the extra bells and whistles, as long as it plays DS games he will be happy. Thank you again for the suggestion, especially if they are located in the US I may actually have hope in getting this in time.

It will, and it even has cheat support which is necessary for online play (unless you want to hardpatch the DS roms).

Not really. If you happened to have a DSL or dsi it would be the best, because of GBA emulation but nowadays that you can install gbas and SNES as cias its just unnecessary and cheaper to buy an r4
That's right man, today only the NDS emulation are worth with these flash cards ;)

I got an email back from dsflashcart and they said Paypal has refused business with them because they dont want to be associated with flashcart businesses so yes giftcards from subway or burger king are their only form of payments they can accept. Just reporting this in case anyone cared to know the situation.

P.S. In regards to micro SD cards, whats the highest speed I should go for to a point where there are no gains to be seen on the flashcart end? If I got something that was Class 10 speed would that be enough or should I go for more?

Alright then, thanks.

I got the R4i yesterday, from me opening the box it came in (was packed really simplistically in a ziplock bag, didnt have its own manufactured box :/) to looking up the firmware and updating the cart it took less than 10 mins to test out a game from my collection and have it running. He says hes gonna install arm9loader on his own time but I hope in the mean time this will work on his setup. I'll post back on how everything goes but its safe to say its all good.

Cool. I can easily acquire an R4i Gold Pro 2016 here, that would work no problems right? Would that expire after a year (read something somewhere about timebombs)? Sorry - this is the first time I'll be attempting to play DS games. Thanks!

Timebomb is really just an annoyance since you can just change the date when it occurs (set for 2018, it doesn't even brick it). By then maybe we'd have a flashcart-less solution for DS on 3DS :P. The menu on that card is kind of clunky too but it should work well. If I could walk into a store here and buy it I probably would. There's also YSmenu you can use for the rare game that doesn't work (and it's also a way to avoid the timebomb altogether.)

Yes iirc that one doesn't have the time bomb. Don't get the gateway
