Recently my N3DS couldn't boot any longer into home menu. But I still had access to A9LH payloads. You can read all about it here: http://gbatemp.net/threads/so-is-my-n3ds-dead.424291/

What I am wondering is, am I able to recover my Pokemon Y save data from my 3DS with the limited access I have to A9LH payloads from the Luma3DS payload folder.

Thanks in advance.

Doubt it, although the save data is on your sd card and is encrypted. I quote this guy way to much, but here @d0k3 he should be able to help.

GodMode9 can do this, but you need to get informed about what files to get yourself. In any case, do a backup first before making any attempts to repair it. A CTRNAND dump (can be mounted on PC via OSFmount) can help, too.

Thanks for the reply. I feel as though it's a little too difficult for me  but I'll read around and see if I can figure it out somehow. Thank you.

Make a backup of your SD card first. Then you should be able to use Decrypt9's Game Options > SD Decryptor (SysNAND dir) option to decrypt your saves. Those Decrypted saves should then be able to be migrated to another hacked 3DS and then using the SD Encryptor option to encrypt it to a new 3DS. Then you can delete the secure value with JK's Save Manager.

NOTE: I have not done this myself but this is how I understand the features to work.

Not if using A9LH or a hackey solution

Not sure what you're getting at there. If he could get into D9/G9 then yes you could decrypt the SD from there. However, the console still needs to operational in order to decrypt the save. If the old unit is a hard brick, you can't magically decrypt the SD on a different console.

He can boot into the payloads.
