I would downgrade the N3DS, set up CFW and do a system transfer after that. If you update your N3DS to the latest firmware, you will to use need Cubic Ninja or Ocarina of Time, Smash Bros or Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon and a Save Dongle (Action Replay Powersaves) to downgrade. It's easier overall to downgrade with the browser which you can do on firmware 9.9.

You can follow this guide to downgrade and get Arm9loaderhax and CFW set up on your N3DS. After you've got CFW set up, you can update to the latest firmware and do a system transfer without issue.
I'll give it a go tonight. Many thanks.

Yes, rxTools is fine, but outdated at this point. You should still be able to play online, etc... fine. You might want to consider installing Arm9loaderhax and switching to one of the other CFWs (ReiNAND, Luma, Cakes).

it's easy to just change ? just install arm9loaderhax and choose other cfw ?
Also, what's outdated about it ?
Yes its easy to switch. You don't even have to use arm9loaderhax if you don't want to. Rxtools was abandoned and had its tools removed. Other cfw offer more options and the tools that are out there are better than what rxtools had

Hi! I have a question about hardmodding! I need to dump a NAND.BIN file to a o3ds and I don't have a SD card reader but I do have a MicroSD card reader! now.. conecting the motherbord to an MicroSD is very difficult and seemingly impossible but!..
Can I hardmod my 3ds to a MicroSD card reader to dump my NAND.BIN?
(conecting everything to the corresponding pins and sending it to someone who knows what they are doing!)
will this work? and could I restor my o3ds with this??

EDIT:It's just an connect/dump/disconnect type of modd..
Can't you just buy a SDC reader, they're very cheap :)

Do we need to run Minipasta before running SafeA9lhInstaller from sysnand's HBL? Apparently someone bricked because he didn't do it but I don't see it there : https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/Part-5-(arm9loaderhax-&-Luma3DS)

See here for the topic about the person who bricked : http://gbatemp.net/threads/black-screen-after-installing-a9lh.425030/

Question: if it's necessary why is it not in the guide? If it isn't why did someone brick?

I didn't boot into mini pasta mode and my o3ds didn't brick that's for sure. The person in the topic probably did something else wrong and the person saying that is probably used to an older way of setting up A9LH. Plialects guide is the way to go. It gets updated every day. Lots of tutorials are already out of date, as the developments around A9LH are real quick.

Hey guys. I'm stuck. Here's the guide I'm using, and here's the problem.
I'm currently on step 26, where you're supposed to back up sysNAND_original.bin and emuNAND_original.bin. However, I've backed both up like 4 times each, and I have not gotten the right file sizes any of those times. Emu - 1.26GB and Sys - 1.93GB for me on a New 3DS. (It should be 1.84GB or 1.21GB.)
Help, please. :')

Got a question myself for everyone regarding to HBL ~ I ordered Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon for quite cheap, I plan to use it for an entry point in my 'virgin' O3DS 10.7 sys/FW, is it possible to still downgrade using this method and things? I have previous knowledge with downgrading and stuff but not with this newly found entry point, just wanted to see if it went any differently otherwise I know what I'm doing! Set up A9LH + Luma3DS on 3 consoles already, so I'd like them all to be on it ^^ thank you~

I've just finished installing Luma3DS through a9lh, took 3 days by working a party everyday.

It was a long process but very fun.

I wanted to know, now that we have true CFW with a9lh, what's the best way to pay 3ds roms, all the information I was able to gather is old and based on Gateway and old posting cfw.

With the new ways do we still need to convert to cia and install?

Is there a way to run a 3ds rom directly from micro SD?

Is there a way to enable DS flashcarts and put a 3ds rom on the micro sd? Kind of using it as storage for 3ds roms?

Can we run ds flashcards and ds roms from them?

I know it's a lot of question, hopefully someone can answer some.

If cia are still required, any good, up-to-date tutorials to follow?

Thank you,

As long as you follow every step on the guide which is most commonly known, read over it twice before even attempting anything. If you brick, it'll most likely be down to user error and not the process it's self (Again, user error with not following rules step by step)

I'd advise you to make a lot of backups, if you've already got EmuNAND/RedNAND - Continue from Step 4 "Getting OTP"

Goodluck :)
