I always render my YT videos using apple video 720p x32 30fps, it renders faster but sometimes it freezes in the middle of the process.

Another config is using Sony mp4 Internet 720p 30fps,but takes ages to render and the output files are extremely big (2GB for a 10 min. video).

Wich custom configuration do you recommend for youtube? One that outputs tiny sized files and at razonable speed.

If you have the upload then more quality is better -- youtube encodes things oddly but later they could well change that and do more quality. Afraid I do not use vegas and nor does anybody else I know so I have no suggestions beyond that.

After effects is an effects and animation program, a great one and probably one of the best general purpose ones before you hit "if sir has to ask" price ranges. It works hand and hand with adobe's main video editor called Premiere but as a standalone editor it would leave a lot to be desired.
