Hey guys. So I recently updated my emunand to the latest and thus my gateway to the latest (3.7.1). Whenever I'm playing a game and press close software my system crashes. This is on my old 3ds. I don't think this used to happen. I don't usually play my old 3ds. usually I play my new 3ds, and this definitely never happens there. With the old 3DS I did not think much about it until I was playing Monster Hunter 4 ultimate and I came back and noticed that my save of 3 hours of work was not properly written to my game even though I saved many many times. Please help me on fixing this issue so that it never happens again. I read something about cart 2 cart 1 and I do not quite understand it. I saw that this was an issue with Gateway 2.0, which I definitely don't have so this doesn't make sense.

The software needs to close properly for the Gateway to save. Not sure what's causing the crash though.

Well I used to play gateway all the time and I could turn off my 3ds right after I save without closing software and it would save. That worked on old and new 3ds. So I've heard what you have said but I'm not so sure it's always true. Because I know that most of the time I don't do that and it works.

When you use the power button to turn off it does close the software properly. It's the first time I've heard of crashing when closing software. Does it still save properly without crashing when you use the power button? If so I would suggest using power + home to quit a game for now. I'm not sure what the issue is. You can convert all your games to card2 which should get rid of the problem, but you'd have to convert all your saves to card2 as well, so it would take some effort. Card2 stores the save file directly in the ROM, as opposed to Card1 which gets saved to the save chip in the Gateway cart then written to the SD card when the game is closed. If that step fails you will lose progress, issues with Gateway's saving are very rare today though. I haven't had a single issue since back in a very old 2.x version.

Yea this issue I read was common in 2.0. So this is definitely strange. This is the first time this has ever happened. This crashing thing is new. After the save was lost. I got upset and I played a bit more and it saved. Im not quite sure what happened. How can I convert it to Card2? I would probably just do it for this game only. How can i figure out which card it is now? 1 or 2? Usually as far as I know the saves always save in the rom. I almost never have a save file.

Everything launched in Gateway mode creates a .sav on the internal SD, even system titles which don't even use a save chip, I'm sure if you look you'll find a lot of .sav files there.
You can use this tool to convert Card1 to Card2: http://filetrip.net/dl?deY8GQks8v
As for the saves, you first have to backup the decrypted save using SaveDataFiler before converting, then you can reimport it after converting. You need to use this workaround to backup the card1 save (it's not needed for importing to card2): https://gbatemp.net/threads/tutoria...v-to-eshop-3ds-3dz-with-savedatafiler.380246/

Im trying that but I do not use a CFW. I just use gateway mode so Im not sure if I can do all of that. Im really concerned that it crashes after every attempt to close the software.
