Welp, if it is true, then, I feel a bit... ripped off.
I got the console almost at launch, and it feels like not even a year has passed that Nintendo abandons it for the new console.
Well, I only hope this NX is gonna be cheaper and backward compatible with both Wii and Wii U...

It's about time, I mean what were they even thinking when they released it in the first place. It's a better version of the Wii but with less games. I'm still waiting for Nintendos next NEW console, hopefully with VR headsets.

He likely meant that the Wii U still feels at an early stage in its life due to how much Nintendo has kicked around the ugly duck.

I don't. Backwards Compatibility holds a console back.
If for financial reasons, fair enough. But if the hardware is compatible and able to emulate the previous gen games then they should also aim to have them playable on the newer console. It's always nice and convenient to have BC.

Sony's "BC" is a joke.

Well, it's mostly because BC literally means there's a console inside a console, there is no emulation involved. So, having the BC we all know would also mean keeping a Wii U inside the NX.

As far as I understand it, anyway.

The European PS3 60GB fat models were BC with PS2 games but they were emulated than having the actual PS2 hardware, Xbox One also emulates 360 games which allows users to play their games without paying an extra fee.

This news were confirmed as fake almost as soon as they were released. As it was previously mentioned, Nintendo denied it.

As previously mentioned, Nintendo would of course deny it. Do you really think they're going to confirm the death of a console so soon? It's common sense what they're doing. Everyone who sides with Nintendo on their denial can all be fools. Nintendo Wii U is dead, and all the non-believers will get a slap in the face when summer comes and Nintendo comes back to give you the truth of their lie(s).

You seriously think they would confirm the ceasing of production of the Wii U? If they did, that'd be like saying "don't buy Wii U" to future customers.

That's actually how Nintendo does it. Sony streams PS3 games and Microsoft emulates 360 games.

So, for Nintendo, cutting out actual backwards compatibility and going for digital titles (like the Wii digital titles) would dramatically cut console costs. They could cut the cost even more by going digital.

You should update this since Nintendo have denied these claims.

If they do so they'll just worsen the stigma and become the sega everyone fears or hopes they'll become. Nintendo by supporting the consumers will show that they will give support for a long while and make people keep trust in them. It's common sense to do so.

If you just want pi for emulation no point when Anbernic releases new shit every two seconds

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
What's really cool about Pi's tho is you can have multiple SD cards with different OS on each SD card and change from say a gaming machine to a full fledged pc if wanted
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Plus all bios are set up and usually includes at least 128gbs or 64
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Yeah but if your main goal is just to play n64 and GameCube you can save about $50 and have the portability option

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
True, but on 2 monitors at 4k. Its just want you want really, to each they own.
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
For a kids aspect Anbernic would be the better option they'd probably melt over the price on a good 4k display

  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
So they buy a pi5 kit for about $150 and say a 28" 4k display probably looking around $400 total
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
They'll be getting in the territory of portable Pcs anyway

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Again you get what you pay for, its like buying a S series for $300 but its only 1440p native, if you want true 4k, gotta get the X model for $500. But yea you right, when moms buying it anyways, you gotta stay cheap.
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
They could use HD out on their TV no real need for a monitor these days tbh the purists will disagree
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
I'm kind of phasing out on the need for wanting all these consoles cool to have but they just become dust build ups
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
I here ya there, I have too many myself, and have hard time letting them go, since most of mine I've modded at some point. Anymore I just play Switch on the go, seriesx at home.
